' Burbidges .Homo Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Burbidge returned to their home at 136 Willamette avenue yesterday from Bremer ton, Wash., where they were called ten days ago by the ill ness of Mr. Burbidge's brother. J. M. Burbidge, who died on November 16 from a stroke. Civil Service Tests Ten U. S. civil service examinations were announced today at Medford postoffice. Complete information regarding the examinations and positions may be obtained at the postoffice from Stanley Sher wood, assistant secretary of the local board of civil service ex Antioch Clean-up A n 1 1 o c h will hold its annual autumn rlean-up at the cemetery next Wednesday. The community job will be started in the morning and luncheon will be served at noon. Each one assisting the work is asked to bring a covered dish for luncheon. Coffee, sugar and cream will be provided by the Pleasant Hour club. ... Postoffice Permit The Unit ed States federal works agency received a permit from the city inspector's office yesterday to remodel and add to the present Medford postoffice at a stated cost of $170,000. Myron Root and company of 47 South Fir street applied for a permit to reroof a building at a stated cost of $200. Bunco Home Harold Bunce of 25 South Orange street, re turned this week from St. Louis. Mo., where he attended a meet ing of national transportation and maintenance of society of automotive engineers. He drove to Medford from St. Louis in a White truck purchased there for the California Oregon Power company with whom he is asso ciated. ... Return From North Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lewis returned Wed nesday from Portland where they vacationed for a week. Mr, Lewis, hair stylist at Mann's, attended a hair stylist show at the Portland Beauty Supply company during his stay in the north. The couple were accom panied on the trip by Mrs. Lewis' mother, Mrs. Bert Moore, and her aunt, Mrs. E. E. Schultz. . Court Citations Cited by state police yesterday to appear in justice of the peace court this afternoon were Leonard C. Car man. 17, of Medford, for having no operator's license, and Theo dore Roosevelt Schatz, 22, of Medford, for having no license on a trailer. Sidney M, Jones, 28. of Medford was cited to appear November 13 charged with driving a car with im proper lights. Plane Passengers R. F. Wild man and C. B. Van Houten ar rived by United Mainliner this forenoon from Portland to trans act business here. They booked passage back to Portland on tonight's Mainliner. Louis Ama cher left for Portland by Main liner last night. S. L. Case departed for Oakland. Cal., last evening and Ray W. Hardeback left for Seattle, Wash., yesterday afternoon. Minor Accidents Cliff Bishop or 451 Ross lane and Dr. B. R Elliott of Route 2 drove cars involved in a minor accident on Ross lane about four miles from Medford Thursday night, a re port on file said today. Harold L. Barton of Route 3 and A. J. Klocker of 1427 East Main street operated vehicles colliding with slight damage on Second street near thp Junior high school Thursday afternoon, according to a report on file today. Fined $25 Leland C. Bran don. 29, of Medford pleaded guilty in city police court this morning to a charge of reckless driving and was fined $25. City police said that Brandon, oper ating an automobile north on South Riverside avenue late last night, struck a truck parked in front of the Riverside apart ments. The truck was registered to Robert Chamberlain of Trail. police stated. The Brandon car was damaged considerably but the driver was uninjured. Brings Prisoners Paul Han lin, U. S. deputy marshal, brought four federal prisoners last night from Klamath Falls to the Jackson county jail here where they will be held pend ing their transfer to Portland. Charged with selling liquor to Indians, the prisoners were listed as Ray Malone, 42, of Klamath Falls, Pete Denny, 45, of Klamath Falls, Harold Gross. 42, of Chiloquin, and Earl Fallis. 28, of Bend. f Improves Mrs. Lovica Way- mack, confined in Community hospital with a fractured skull. was reported by her attending physician today as getting along splendidly. Mrs. Way mack, county jail matron, was struck by an automobile at Main and Bartlctt streets Motv day evening, suffering a frac tured skull, hand and knee. At the conclusion of the par ade, the American Legion "dug out" will be opened in Dream land hall on East Main street A free lunch will be served to all World war veterans and en- tertainment will be provided throughout the afternoon. The "dugout" will be open to the public at 1 p. m. and everyone is invited to enjoy the afternoon festivities with the veterans. The high school football game will be held at 2 p. m. After the game the veterans and their friends will return to the dug out where a vaudeville show will be staged. American Legion scrip will be accepted for all of the day's events, including the football game and the theaters. Climax of the celebration will be the dance at the Oriental Gardens at 9:30. Dancing will continue to 2 a. m. Archie Legg's orchestra will provide the music. Schneider says there is about as much similarity between the present streamlined cooking equipment of the army and the equipment used In the World war as there is between an old time wood burning stove and a modern gas range. He was a cook in the World war. Supply trucks and mobile kitchens roll along at 40 miles an hour now, whereas they used to be drawn by horses. CITY OKEHS LEASE OF AIR CORPS SUE The city council at a special , meeting late yesterday adopted j an ordinance authorizing the signing of a lease with the U. S. army for a plot of ground at the municipal airport. Thei army air corps will erect a $7500, two-story building on the site to house its radio control ! station. ! With the leasing formality completed, a call for bids was expected in the near future. Sec ond floor of the building will be given over to the radio oper ating personnel. Sgt. William M. Daws, in charge of the air corps , unit here, will have an office in the building.
