Musical Society
Presents Program
The Musical society of Med
ford enjoyed a recent program
of music with Mrs. James Stev
tns as commentator.
The a capella chorus of 25 men'
bers and the boys' octette from
the Medford high school, un
der the direction of Floy Young
presented the outstanding event.
In "Prochume," a worship
song of the far east, Wilson
Church sang the solo. The
chorus' second song was a Ger
man folk song, "Phillis," har
monized by Brahms.
"My People," an unusual
number, was sung by the chorus
In Latin . with an antiphonal
choir singing in Greek. The
octette followed with two num
bers, "I'll Take You Home
Again, Kathleen" and "I Love a ,
Parade. Surely He Has Borne
Our Grief," a composition by
Loti written in the 15th century,
was also featured by the chorus
and was followed by a simple
story from the French, "Madam
Jeanette."
The octette is composed of
the following boys: Wilson
Church, Jerry Vawter, Norman
Miksche, Bob Raymond, Bill
Taylor, Douglas Eden, Harry
Thurman, Harris Janes. Ac
companists are Dorothy Wilder
and Eva Taylor.
The Musical society presents
outstanding similar programs
each fortnight.
