McMinnvllle, Oct. 26 (AP) The government's campaign to eliminate rural instability ana poverty will advance another step tomorrow with me iarm security administration's accep tance of a $208,000 migratory farm labor camp near Dayton in the heart of a rich agricul tural region first reclaimed from the wilderness by pioneers al most a century ago. The camp, first of its kind completed in the Pacific north west, will receive economically pressed families, some of them refugees from midwestern dust bowls and others the victims of unproductive lands nearer home. $8 Month Rent Pat Hughes, FSA family se lection specialist, has estab lished headquarters at the camp, Interviewing tenant applicants who, if accepted, will pay $8 a month to live in one of the 47 four-room dwellings. FSA regional director Walter A. Duffy, who appointed Charles Blanding acting manager, will accept the project for the gov ernment and head an inspection tour of FSA officials. The camp is a small city with two miles of paved streets, wa ter and sewage disposal systems, concrete sidewalks, playgrounds and community hall. It has 147 migrant shelters and 44 tent platforms in addition to the 47 permanent homes. The shelters are one-room houses built of wood. Other facilities include a first aid station, dairy and poul try farm unit, nursery and child clinic, mattress factory and shops. On Abandoned Land In constructing the camp, the government used more than a million board feet of lumber, eight miles of tile for the drain age system and 700 tons of lime and fertilizer to give new life to 120 acres of land aban doned because of alkali con ditions. The Yamhill county camp will become the headquarters for other developments. Duffy said its primary function was to provide "a good environment to build good citizens" and sani tary living quarters for agricul tural workers during Die har vest. The camp will act as an oper ating base for four mobile units which will serve other harvest areas in the Willamette Valley and Malheur and Klamath counties. ITALY, YUGOSLAVIA 10 HELP HUNGARY Hungary Supported in Plans To Keep Communists Out Of Southeastern Europe. By Edward Kennedy. Budapest, Oct. 26. (AP) The presence of Soviet Russian troops on the Polish side of the Carpathian mountains is forg ing unity among Hungary, Yugo slavia and Italy to prevent any march of communism into south eastern Europe, it was Indicated in authoritative quarters, today. It was said authoritatively, should there materialize any threat of a Russian advance into Ruthcnia, the former Czecho slovak province which Hungary occupied last March, Hungary would have the aid of Italy and Yugoslavia, if it became neces sary for her to take up arms. Assurances Given. These quarters said Hungary had received such assurances from Italy and Yugoslavia. Hungary, an anti-communist stronghold since the communist rule of Bcla Kun in 1919, it was said, is determined to make the Carpathians a barrier to any further westward advance of communism. This objective, it was said, Is supported by Italy and Yugo slavia, the one fascist, the other strongly anti-communist, because they fear that if the red army once passed this natural bul-' wark, it would find little to stop it short of the Adriatic Threat Undeveloped. It also was said authoritative ly should there be a Russian in vasion of the Rumania province of Bessarabia, Hungarians prob ably would be impelled to march to the Capathian range in that country through the western Rumanian province of Transyl vania. So far, there has been no clear indication such a threat, to Ru thcnia or Bessarabia, would de velop. Rumania has received official assurances Russia does not intend to make any demands against her, and the Russian press has been emphasizing a desire for more friendly rela tions with Hungary. But red troops in considerable numbers have been reported across the border from Ruthcnia. largely populated by Ukrainians such as inhabit the southern 1 part of Poland. The red army "liberated" the Ukrainians in Poland during the German in vasion. Tension In Rumania. New tension also has been re ported in Rumania, despite Rus sian assurances, where It was reported by political circles that "important developments are Imminent In the Balkans." King Carol's envoys to Bulgaria and Turkey were summoned home for consultation. Authoritative quarters reflect ed the widely expressed view among Balkan diplomats that if it were Russia's purpose to thrust her influence into the Balkans, she would move as soon as she has disposed of her negotiations with Finland and while Germany is occupied by Great Britain and France.
