Scott. Fire Prevention Week Proclaimed By Mr. Roosevelt WASHINGTON. Sept. 39 President Roosevelt today set aride the week beginning October 8 as fire prevention week. His proclamation reported fires In this country did an estimated damage of $254,000,000 In 1937 and more than $265,000,000 last year. Public authorities, elvio groups, educators and others were request ed to "cooperate In bringing to the attention of all the people the Importance of taking measures to eliminate fire hazards, to abolish dangerous practices and procedure: which may lead to the occurrence of needless fires, and to maintain a special alertness in every situa tion In which a destructive fire may occur." Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Glower of West Phoenix called at L. H. Hughes' home Sunday. Mr. Clower and fam ily left Monday for Chowchllla, Cel., to be gone until Christmas. H. H.
