CorvalHs Heavy The Corvallls Spartans, 29 strong, are expected to arrive here early Friday afternoon, and they may take a light workout on the stadium turf later In the day. The squad, with Coach Frank Ramsey, will travel In a large school bus. The Corvallls club, rated a favorite in the Willamette Valley loop, will average 180 pounds In the line and slightly over 160 in the backfleld. Medford high students will stage a huge rally Friday evening before the game, with a gigantic bonfire and everything. The bonfire will blaze cm a vacant field near the athletic plant. Thirty-four players made the trip south to meet a team that haa upset the Webfoots by tremendous scores in the past. Oregon was again the underdog. Silverton Wins In Play-off Opener SILVERTON. Crescent City has declined to plsy art nts Pas for the league cham pionship, Fred Roper of the local club learned today. Roper received a letter from Roy Deo. manager of the Crescents, stat- 1 lng that "the powers that be told me several weeks ago that the game would not be played, but a co- championship would be declsred between us and a pennant given to each of us." Roper's reply was that he would fight any such arrangement, that league officials "have no right" to authorize any aueh co-champlonship, and that he would demand of Presi dent Dom Provost an order either for a playoff of the tie or a forfeit.
