"Reports from wholesale markets Indicated that although the forward buying wave had passed Its peak order volume remained substantially above last year. Most lines continued to have the appearance of a sellers market. "In many instances wholesalers were refusing bookings at present prices lor shipment mora than two or three weeks in the future. Deliv eries became more of a problem as mill backlogs grew and distributors found difficulties In obtaining mer chandise within the specified period." Why is the president so excited about selling war munitions to the belligerents? Is he. relying upon this to bring back prosperity? Or Is he catering to big business? I would like to write more but space forbids. W. B. CRAUSE. Individual Butterscotch Rolls Little need be said about these good rolls most everyone knows how delicious they are. They co-lnclde with my views. I Lindbergh, from the time he be : came famous for his splendid deed ! which, coming at the time it did. held promise that ho might be ; come one of America's foremost lead j ers. but what do we find? He has become the world's man i of mystery, and slnca the awful crime (committed by a German, by the way) which drew to Mr. Lincl i benjn the sympathy of every rlght ! thinking American. Mr. Lindbergh has hidden behind a mask of se crecy, and distrust of the American people which has made a great many ! distrust him. (To say the least). ' Mr. Lindbergh did not think Amer ica was a safe place to live In so he went to Europe, where he made nn enemy of Russia, a friend of Germany, and gave England and Prance the Jitters, when It seemed that war was certain, he returned , and In a most mysterloua manner ; surrounded by secrecy, made a most Impassioned apeech urging America to keep out of the war, and accused his former friends of greed, selfish ness and about everything else that could be aald publicly, and asks us to consider, and look behind every j piece of propaganda, every speech, and every picture. I Let us begin with him. Could It , be possible that his apeech Is piece of expert propaganda? Could his statement about German air power have had any special slgnlfl cance? Is he Interested In keeping us out of war with Germany? No body knows but Mr. Lindbergh and he won't tell. I do not want this country to go to war with any nation, but we are free, white and twenty-one, and do not need any oceana to hide behind and should be cspable of handling any situation with pride and honor, neither do we have to take any "saBs" from any nation, but if we decide not to meddle, then let us lor heavens sake," refrain from of fering any other nations any advice as to what they should do. Mew 1940 frill MnWl" GENERAL MOTORS VAIUI V Peace? To the Editor: Considering the reams written about peace, why haven't w at tained a state of peace? To the analytical mind most of our peace is the Hp ervice variety. Until the mass mind understands the atomic structure of matter, and applies the principle of the dif ferential calculus to our social and economic structure, we will continue with our fratricidal economic strug gle. If war la first an invisible electric Impulse, or Ideation. In the mind of man, and were never allowed to manifest in the material, peace would then be the natural sequence. Since peace U alio a state of mind, peace should be easily attain, able, if we were really peace minded. Undoubtedly the lip service pacifists predominate, in their conversation they are discussing the beatitudes of peace, and the horrors of war. when someone suddenly remarks, we can sell material and supplies to the oemgerent nations, through the back door, so to speak. Their vibratory rate immediately changes to inward gloating, as they picture in their mind's eye the fat profits; said profits will have most of the stench of putrid human fUesh and blood removed, via the back door, as it were. But Alas! They forget the law. The mills of the Gods grind slowly. while the hand of Karma turns the wheel I This should be Indisputable proof they are Up sen-Ice pacifists to the Nth degree. Their motto should read "My profit right or wrong; my profit I" Referring to the Oood Book, we read: "If any man profess to love God and bates his brother, he Is a llarl" Peace must predominate in the minds of men before It can mani fest In the physical, which brings us to Hermes Law, "As above, so be low 1" D.
