The delicate beauty MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD, OREGON, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 1939 of the abundant Oregon wild flow ers, the majesty of the trees, and the riot of iprlng and fall colors of field and forest may now be viewed at leisure by University of Oregon stu dents who frequent the library "browsing room." A gift of more than 1,000 photo graphs, taken with great skill and faithfully colored, has been made to the university botany department by A. R. Livingston of Medfnrri Tti collection, all mounted and bound. Includes pictures from Colorado and California as well as Oregon. The collection is especially valu able, declares Professor Prank P. Slpe, head of the botany department, since most of the pictures were made In the field, and Mr. Livingston then returned there to catch the delicate hues in water coinr. Thi re production makes the photographs more man usually, useful for scien tific purposes as well as for pleasure of flower lovers. Mr. Livingston began his collection more than 30 years ago, and un doubtedly has CORIDilpd nn nt the finest groups of pictures of the type ever assemble., Mr. Slpe states. The books have been placed In the "browsing room," a part of the lib rary set aside for students Inter ested In good literature and art, and are expected to attract a great deal of Interest. SEATTLE. Sept. 20. IAP) Mrs. Martha C. Leftcovltch, 84, second cousin of Abraham Lincoln, died today. She was the daughter of Mrs. Nancy Robb Norman, a cousin of the civil wai president.
