Money Cn found
What happened to the money and
its present whereabouts have been
among the chief problems fnclng in
vestigators. Authorities at first believed the
missing funds might represent un
paid bills for Illegal International
arms and ammunition shipments
which the self-slain eldest brother is
accused of arranging as a profit
able sideline !n a career of crime In
cluding drug adulteration, large-scale
bootlegging, smuggling and income
tax Invasion.
This belief apparently has been
shelved.
Investigators said they hope now,
through questioning relatives of the
Musi ens, to obtain clues enabling
them to recover a substantial portion
of the stoleu assets.
"Considerable of this must be In
cash," said Brlen McMahon, assistant
UjJ. attorney general, who flew here
from Washington to head the co-ordinated
Inquiry by six federal agen
cies Into McKeMon A Robbing opera
tions. "We are seeking safety deposit
vaults," he added. "When we find
them we expect to find considerable
cas-h."
McMahon described the eldest Mu
sics, who ran the drug firm and hid
his criminal past under the "F. Don
ald Coster" pseudonym, as probably
the "biggest illicit liquor dealer in
the country." He said the federal In
quiry would result In the Indictment
of persons of "great prominence."
"'This case has more widespread
ramifications than any other fraud
case In my memory," he remarked af
ter conferring with other officials.
The body of Philip Muslca. who
shot himself to death in his palatial
home at Fairfield. Conn., last Friday,
was Interred in a Brooklyn mausoleum
yesterday. His widow and two hand
cuffed brothers attended funeral services.
