Nellie Wllllami of Marya vllle, Cal. 1 The old document belonged to Mr. Williams' mother, Mrs. L. M. Gulp, who was born and reared In the Rogue river valley and was a de scendant of the Griffin and Miller families. The Republican ticket In 1890 was: For congress, Blnger Hermann; su preme Judge, R. 6. Bean; governor, D. P. Thompson; secretary of state. George W. The official ballot for the Town of Medford listed candidates for only the Democratic and GUI ten parties, there being no Republican designations. Borne of the candidates had both Democratic and Citizens endorsement. The 1892 candidates were: For mayor, Oeorge B. Walton and J. A. Whiteside; trustees, D. H. Miller, E. J. Montague, X. B. Pick el, W. B Roberts. J. W. Short and William P. Wood. For recorder: J. H. Farts and K. A. Jacobs; for treasurer, Q. H. Ho skins; for marshal, L. 0. Rodenberger and A. Z, Beara. The modern vogue of streamline design is advanced still further In the 1039 car. This design was Intro duced to the motoring world when the Lincoln-Zephyr was first nounced late In 1035. Since that time it has exerted an increasingly dominant Influence on motor car styling generally. I The trim new front end, the sweep or trie icngtnenea nooa as it nienas into the low, roomy body and the flowing rear dock line unite to ere a'e an air of flcetness and grace. This is accentuated by the almost vertical front profile, the vertical lines of the radiator grille and the streamlined bars of the front bumper. Chromium -plated decorative strips relievo the severe beauty of the un broken hoodslde panel. A bright moulding sweeps back to the rear of the body. The side view of the car has a I pleasing, unbroken smoothness cre ated by the Introduction of a new treatment In door design. The doors now carry extensions at their lower edges which conceal the narrow running boards and also serve to keep them clean. The design does away with exposed running boards but retains the added floor strength ond body rigidity which they provide. The passenger compartment floor Is level with the running boards. (AP) Authorities were considering today holding an Inquest Into the death of Robert M. Newcomb, 58, United States vice consul, whosa body was found yesterday tn a storeroom at the rear of the consular offices. Officers said he died from a bullet wound In the head. A .38 caliber re volver lay near the body. His body was discovered a half hour before he was to have sailed for Seattle on a month's vacation. G. PASS ROTARIANS WIN GOLF MATCH GRANTS PASS, Dec. 16. (SpU Rot aria n golfers of Grants Pass broke a tie with Medford Rotarians wea- nesday, when after the local Rotary luncheon they played a return toui- nament and won. 13i points to 10' points for the Medford players. At Medford the precemng ween the local Rotarians had managed to tie the score on the Rogue Valley golf course, 12 points for each team. The win here gave the Grants Pass club this year's victory and posses sion of an lntep-clty cup the clubs have agreed to contest for. At the Wednesday Rotary meeting preceding the tournament, the speaker, W. A. Gates of Medford presented a condemnation of adver tising on a national, regional and local basis. In which he contended that national advertising promotes false standards of living among the people by making them want to buy modern Improvements they can no' afford. He blamed distribution prac tices under which he said advertis ing hurt farmers and growers, and declared the cure would be to cor rect distribution Ills.
