Dr. Kay Lyman Wilbur, president of the university, announced that eonatructlon would atart soon on a library building to house the for mer presidents priceless eolleetlon. the largest on current history In the world. Fund Completed The announcement followed com pletion of a building fund. Ita ac ceptance by the university trustees and their approval of the plans for a one-story, oentral-towertd struc ture. The main floor will be 130 feet square and the tower will rise 910 feet high with a width of 55 feet. Fire destroyed the roof of the two- story, three-apartment frame house at 838 Smith Ivy street late yesterday afternoon. The blaw waa eauard by a box of hot ashes left la a corner of the bed room of ths front upstairs apartment, Chtef Boy Blllott said. After smolder ing all day, the ashes finally Ignited the container and the flamea licked up the corner of the room to the roof, ths chief stated. Quick work by the fire department saved ths house and kept the flamea from leaping to a large frame resi dence dose by on the south side. Firemen prevented water damage to the furniture by following their usual practice of covering It with salvage blanketa before starting the hose lines. The house la owned by O forge How ard and Is leased by Mrs. o. E. White man, occupant of tha first floor apartment. The loss was covered by Insurance. The blaze waa discovered by Mrs. Velma Wortbam, occupant of tha rear upstairs apartment. She arous ed Mrs. Whlteman, who waa sick In bed, snd then ran to a neighboring house to telephone the fire depart ment. The firemen answered a ward alarm at 8:88. Mrs. Julia M. Osborn occupied tha upstalra front apart ment. An hour later, at 4:88 p.m., the fire department'a chemical crew waa called to the Washington school where soot In the chimney had Ignited and apsrks were cascading from the chimney top. The firemen stood by while the soot burned Itself out. No damage waa done. Add eggs, honey and fruit Juices. Beat two minutes. Sprinkle half the flour over fruits and when well mixed add to butter mixture. Mix In' remaining Ingredient. Pill two-thirds full two loaf pans lined with heavy waxed paper. Bake for three hours In slow oven. Dundee Cake 93 cup butter 1 cups granulated sugar 3 eggs cup orange Juice 1 teaspoon lemon extract 1 teaspoon vanilla teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon mace 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind 1 teaspoon grated orange rind 1 cup chopped candled pineapple 1 cup chopped dates cup chopped citron cup shredded almonda Vt cup chopped candled orange peel 3 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking powder Cream butter until soft. Add sugar and beat until very creamy. Add rest of Ingredients and mix thorough ly. Fill two-thirds full a loaf pan lined with buttered heavy paper. Bake 1 hours. Apple-Sauce Cake 18 cup butter 1 cup dark brown sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1,4 teaspoon cloves teaspoon salt i m 1 cup strained unsweetened apple sauce 1 cup r&Lslns cup nuts 3 cups flour 1 teaspoon soda Cream butter and sugar.
