1 MEDFORD MATTj TRD3TTNTE. MEDFORD. ORF,OONT. FRTDAY, NOVEMBER 13. 193S. PAGE THREE I FOR NEW SERVICE Pouring of foundations was started today for th new automobile service station being erected by Standard Stations, Inc. at 144 South Central avenue, and the northwest corner of Oth street. If weather continues favorable, it Is expected the structure will be completed by the first of the year. NERO riddled while Rome burned OLD NERO was a riddle. When Rome burned ev erybody expected that as em peror and titular head of the fire department he would not only attend the conflagration but would grab an ax and break in the first window. Instead, he fiddled for him, a very silly activity. The oil Industry would be just as ridiculous if as some people seem to think it fid dled while the nation's petro leum supply vanished, leaving it with 13 billion dollars in vested in a ghost business. Bat consider this: Known petroleum reserves now stand at 15 li billion barrels largest in history. Despite all the bil lions of barrels used in the meantime, that's 150 per cent more than the known reserve of 24 years ago. This reserve is actual oil in die ground. It's like money in the bank. You know it's there and that you can go get it when you need it It doesn't consider the fact that the industry makes a barrel of oil go farther each year. . When it comes to money you spend some every year. But if your bank balance is regu larly bigger in December than it was in January, you don't moan. And that's what is ac tually happening to the oil re serves of the United States. Each year they're more and more and more.
