Is Colorful Event The second of a series of concerts by the Medford Music club was given last Wednesdsy evening at the home of Mrs. Margaret Fabrlck. The concert, given by Elizabeth and Harlow Mills, waa unique In its ap peal to every type of person, from the uninitiated to the seasoned con cert goer. The Rumanian and Hungarian music played by the artiste waa as colorful aa the woven fabrics they wore. Each was dressed In native peasant costumes of Rumania. Some one has described genius as an enormous capacity for detail. These two musicians add this rare gift to their youthful enthusiasm and mature Judgment. Beginning with simple folk themes, tracing through tne romanttcista who elaborate upon these themes, and on to arrange ments by the modernists, their music wss educational as well as Inspiring. one seldom hears difficult violin music performed with truer clarity and musical understanding. In the Sarasate Airs, the modern Hora stac cato, arranged by Helfetjt, and Ravel's ultra modern Tzigane, Elizabeth Mills was superb. Harlow Mills' piano technlaue and thorough musicianship was adequate for the Liszt Hungarian rhopsody; uowever, nut main thought seems to oe in tne field of composition, re search, and accompanying. As en cores, he gave two of his composi tions of contrasting thought: Dizzy Boy, clever and with good humor, and the very fine Adagio movement from hla Impressive Italian Sonata. xne appreciative audience was Im pressed by the genuine sincerity of purpose and personal charm of Mr and Mrs. Mills.
