With 13,340 precincts In, and Patterson's total for 13,130 pre cincts was 1,355,360 to Dr. Walter Scott Franklin's 1,084,331. Republicans, on the basis of un official returns doubled their number of congressmen from this state, elect ing eight. In one district, the 18th, Republican Thomas M. Eaton's mar gin over Rep. Byron Scott was only 107 votes, and the official count Is needed to definitely determine the race. The California delegation num bers 30. Ballot Bonfire Brings Problem In PL Townsend PORT TOWNSEND, Wash.. Nov. 11. (AP) Becaue 146 city pri mary ballot were Inadvertently burned before they were counted. Port Townsend voter wondered today who, If anyone, was nomi nated for mayor and what's to be done about It. The ballot bonfire occurred elec tion night In the fifth precinct. Votes cast there totaled 347 and, contrary to county election board Instructions, poll officials counted the first batch of 101 city primary ballots before starting the general slectlon tabulation. The other 146 city ballots were missing when sought later, and It wa discovered a poll official had shoved them Into a stove. BY OLYMPIA, Nor. 11. (AP) A 381,317 suit against the state of Washington and Washington State college, brought by a oontraotlng company which said the plana under which two buildings on the W. S. O. campus were constructed were so defective that It was Impossible to follow them, was on file In Thurston county superior court today. The structures are the health and physical education building for wo men, and a women's residence hall. The plaintiff Is the Hoard Engin eering company. The buildings were started In 1936 and have been com pleted and accepted. Hartke said Herbert Huntsman, 58, was taken Into custody early today at the dock where the vessel was being unloaded. Albert Von Btrltaky, fourth officer of the vessel which was beached on a mud flat after the explosion tore open the hull and Injured five sea men, told police Huntsman had msde "suspicious" remarks. The ship's officer, Hartke said, re lated he heard Huntsman say: "Nasls, huh I The next time X hit this ship I'll put It down In deep water where nothing will be saved and nobody will be saved."
