Dubs applied at the elty building inspector's office - yesterday for a permit to construct a new residence and private garage at 1431 Euclid avenue at a stated cost of $2,000. t Bicycle lilt A bicycle ridden by Wayne E. Toulouse, 14, of 827 Mae street was struck by an automobile driven by Olive G. Walch of Route 3 yesterday afternoon at 81xth and Holly streets, a city police report stated today. The youth was unin jured, the report said. Minor Accident Carl W. Carson of 81 South Orange street and Mrs. H. Lusk of Jacksonville drove vehicles Involved In a slight mishap on North Riverside avenue yesterday afternoon, according to a report on file in city police station today. Return From North Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Thompson of 14 Almond street returned this morning from Seattle, Wash., where they spent part of a vacation. They will spend the re mainder of their vacation here. Mr. t Thompson will return next week to Klamath Falls, where he Is employed. Missionary Talks Dr. Royal J. Dye. pioneer missionary to Africa, will speak In the Christian church in Grants Pass at 7:18 tonight. He spoke this afternoon in the First Christian church here. A number of Medford residents who were unable to attend the lecture this afternoon planned to hear Dr. Dye In Grants Pass tonight. Dr. Dye began his missionary work in Africa in 1899 and the church he founded now has a membership of more than 6,000. Parade Plans Plana for participa tion in the American Legion's Ar mltlce day parade were completed at last night's semi-monthly meeting of the Soxithern Oregon Gem and Min eral society at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. Members are to gather at 10:15 a. m. November 11 at "the home of E. R. Santo, 620 South Ivy street and proceed from there In a group to city park, where the society's place in the procession will be designated. It was announced last night that those who have gem and mineral exhibits In the front window at the chamber of commerce are to meet at the chamber office on Sunday, November 13, the hour to be specified later. The exhibit, It was explained, must be moved to malts room for the display of Christ mas packages of Medford fruit during the Tule season. Meeting Members of Jack son county chapter and auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans of the World War were reminded today of the Joint meeting with the Jose phine county units In the Library auditorium at Grants Pass at 8 p. m. Saturday. The Joint meeting will be addressed by Carl S. Halverson of Washington, D. 0., national executive committeeman, and T. M. Kerrigan, state commander, and Llle Da I ley, state adjutant, both of Portland. The program put on by the Olrl Scouts consisted of a playlet, "Pos tures on Parade." played by mem bers of the Oolden Nugget patrol; a song by four girls of the Silver Nug get and a game "Picking Up Paw Paws' and a folk dance and two songs by all the girls. Mrs. Marjorle Pena, district Girl Scout executive, was present and gave a splendid talk on the Olrl Scout work. After this Prof. Beck showed two reels of the people of Oberammergan, wbo help to put on the famous Passion Play ev ery ten years. It was announced that there are now 30 paid-up members of local P.-T.A., also that the finance committee la planning to make 20 gallons of mincemeat on November 14 at the home of Mrs. Ayres and that anyone who wishes to have some canned at that time may bring their Jars to Mrs. Ayres place the after noon of that day and the ladles will fill their Jara for them. They're also planning to have a country store and an apron sale. Prof. Beck announced that the band will march In the Arm istice Day parade and also that a football schedule here at 2:30 that afternoon between Crescent City and Jacksonville. Announcement was al so made of the senior class play. "Big Hearted Herbert. which part will be played by Bill Johnson and will be given November 18. While roller skating in Medford rink recently', Genevieve Kent fell so hard that it knocked her unconscious and caused paralysis of the tongue. Roger Dew left on October 8 for Portland where he is working on a federal engineering Job. He was rushed to a Medford hospital and was operated on for gall stones. He Is doing as well as can be expected now. Indict Driver in Fatal Accident ROSEBURG. Ore., Nov. 4. (AP) William Mayer, 70. Marshfleld, who was Involved October 22 in an auto mobile accident which took the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Allen F. Moore of Roseburg, faced two Indictments to- 1 day each charging Involuntary man slaughter. The Indictments were re turned today by the grand Jury, which also filed true bills against William Patrick Carroll, charging ; , i-.lm with taking away from her ' parents a female child under the 1 age of 16 years; Vernon Mooro, non- ' support, and Clifford Charles Hob son, non-support. Two secret Indlct menta were filed. Typhoon Threatens Luzon Island Area MANILA, Nov. 4. Saturday (AP) A typhoon of moderate Intensity early today threatened southern Lu zon Island and possibly Manila. The storm crossed the central Philippines. There were no reports of loss of life, but heavy damage to crops was feared in Leyte province, where rivers flooded large areas. Small ships ran to shelters from the danger area.
