Pull of typical Msrxmanla. and the Invariable Marx hilarities. "Room Service" has Prank. Albertson. Ann Miller and Lucille Ball aa foils for the mad Marx antics. Throng Enjoys Hit Featuring Cast Of Local Characters Good-natured, happy throngs which last night Jammed tha street during the premier, festivities and later filled the Rlalto theatre to ca paclty helped Medford'a own movie. "Runnin Wild." off to a flying start on Its three day showing. At 6:30 crowds were already filling the sidewalks and starting to over flow onto the street aa hundreds of southern Oregon show fans gath ered to witness a, typical premiere opening. Olant flood lamps, turning night Into day, a receiving platform where a microphone gave Indication of the celebration to follow, suddenly became the focal point of attention when, with a shriek of Traffic Officer Clyde Flchtner's .siren, a speeding car brought D. W. Balrd. the producer and cameraman, to the theatre to take charge of the proceedings. From then on, lots of things began to happen. The members of the all local cast of "Runnin Wild" started arriving on the scene tn handsome new cars furnished by Medford auto mobile dealers. As each new car ar rived, the players were Introduced from the platform and escorted Into the theatre. A spirit of fun, in which the wa ten 1 ng crowds jol n ed, made the Introductions a happy occasion. And finally, when the Introductions were all over, the crowds made s rush for the boxoffice and. for a time, employees of the theatre were kept busy trying to keep things tn order. But, the Joyous spirit with which everyone was Imbued made the proceedings a fairly easy task. After watching the usual short subjects and the regular feature, "Meet tha Girls," which features June Lang and Lynn Barl In the first of a new series, the big moment arrived when the local pictures came on the screen. First of all wes the all -local Med ford Mail Tribune newsreel, which showed, for the first time, the Mall Tribune's giant linotype machines at work, the casting of type, the em ployees and carriers. Then followed scenes of the Senior snd Junior high school students' pep rallies, shots of the political bigwigs who visited here last week, scenes of Medford from the air, the accordlan band, various public buildings and other bits. A running firs of comment accompan ied each scene which brought on some hilarity when the picture got ahead of the comment and vies versa. However, it did prove inter esting snd entertaining. Then came the Initial showing of "Runnin' Wild. the "super-simer" production filmed In the long ex tended time of three days. Surprla lng to see what can be accomplished In three days. Very surprising. In fact. It was astounding In a hilar toua fashion. Much of the picture . was filmed at the beautiful Owens home on the east side and there the action started with the heroine shown leaving her home -wearing an expensive strand of pearls. To town for a little shopping and meeting some friends then back home again for a lawn party. Enter the villains, a couple of dastardly crooks with an eye on the pearls. A brief struggle and the pearls had been taken. Catastrophel Helpl Po lice I Won't somebody do something l Ah. the hero to the rescue, driving pell-mell down the rosd, trying to hesd off the freight train on which the crooks were escaping. He was successful, of course, (didn't you know he would be?) and after a furloua battle the crooks were sub dued and the pearls recovered. Then the hero's reward, a long, lingering "XMa Tomorrow . 11 r-.a ' Ml . . - what a ! ffim 8 coMiNO r bTTTt j plug Tfg-g f PUDGY , x FNna tomiiiit OE0. O'BRIEN ' 0TrtCV "Call Th.
