for the delightful affair to which 40
guests were Invited.
Mr. and Mrs. Adams were presented
with many kitchen gadget gifts dur
ing the tea.

number of programs In Portlsnd and
Bend where he taught for seversl
yeara.
Since making his home In Ashland,
Mr. O'Brien has gained the reputa
tion of being a fine musician. It Is
with enthusiasm that valley residents
anticipate his earning appearance Jn

Rev. James M. Hamilton, pantor of
the First Christian church, will leave
tonight for Denver, Colorado, where
he will be a delegate to the Interna
tional Convention of Disciples of
Christ, the official convention of the

sionary to India, will apeak. At 4:00
o clock Sunday afternoon will be the
celebration of the Lord's Supper, at

ciples of Christ will gather around
the common table of their Lord and
Master. The convention will hold
morning, afternoon and evening ses
sion throughout the week, closing
on Friday night, October 31.
In the absence of Mr. Hamilton
from Medford the pulpit of his
church will be filled on Sunday
morning by Rev. John W. Hoyt, and
on Sunday night Dr. B. L. Divine will
speak on "The Land of the Ra Jah

ish reinforcements freshly arrived
from England established firm con
trol today of the Bethlehem-Hebron
area which had been the seat of op
eratlons of one of the largest Arab
Dands in Palestine.
Equipped with armored cars, trench
mortars and machine-guns, 400 men
of the .Worcestershire regiment re
placed a small post of black watch
regiment troops In Bethlehem.
The new troops took over all of I
Bethlehem, which had been barely
held by the post for weeks.
Detachments then pushed on 12
miles to Hebron, solidifying control
of the area In which the Arab band
had been operating virtually un
checked. This bsnd, with the support of
Arab vlllagera. has terrorized areas
as for sauth os Beersheba and north
to Jerusalem.
The Worcestershlres arrived from
England last week and Immediately
