(UP) Families In which the wife Is the manager are happy In 47 per cent of the cases; families where the man Is dominant are happy In 01 per cent of the cases, and families where both hus band and wife share the manager ship are happy In 87 per cent of the cases, according to Dr. Paul Popenoe, director of the Los Angeles Institute of Family Relations. Hts conclusion, therefore, ts that those families In which the husband and wife are on a 60-50 basis In dominating the family life have much greater chance of happiness than those In which the family Is either dominated by the husband or by the wife. The statistics were based upon a survey of thousands of families that had remained Intact for a period of five or more years, and was con ducted among the normal, educated section of the population. While the 60-S0 basis of running the family Is the beat one, Dr. Pope noe said tbat "If there must be only one head of the family, It la obvi ously safer for the husband to be the head than the wife." "Nevertheless," he added, "It la obviously still more safe for the family to have two heads, Intelligent, mature and co-operative enough to work out their problems together." LONDON BULKS AT T LONDON (UP) An attempt to restore wrestling to England has proved a sad flop for a young Cana dian and a New Zealander. Tho attempt was made by the giant young Canadian wrestler Ear) McCready, who after touring the empire picking up good cash at wres tling, thought it time to settle down with his wife and family and so tried to popularise wrestling again In Eng land to provide him with a living. McCready and a young New Zea land friend, Kevin Staunton, decided to sink their money In putting on the noble sport of gorillas here. It cost them $4,000 to put their first show on at huge Albert hall, and It wss a bad flop. McCready took on Reuben Wright In the star bout of the evening, and certainly they made a good exciting match of It, but there were very few people there to appreciate It. Now McCready la talking of going on a South African tour to make money instead of losing It. Eleven Die, Train Wreck. HELSINOFORS, Finland. Oct.
