REPUBLICANS PLAN MONDAY MEET AT HOTEL HOLLAND A Joint luncheon meeting of the women of Pro-Am erica and republi can men will be held at the Holland hotel at noon, Monday, September 12. The meeting la being planned by Mrs. C. M. It Is stressed that all Interested men and women are Invited but wherever possible, all planning to attend should notify Mrs. Hurd or Mr. Deuel. One of the alms of the meeting will be to point out the political re sponsibilities of women voters and to interest them In the coming elec tion. The meeting follows and Is along the lines of the meeting held Sept. 2, at the Med ford hotel, which was well attended by republican men and wo men, at which time campaign plans were announced by Kenneth O. Den man, county chairman. Also an open discussion was had relative to the coming campaign with many helpful suggestions offered by those present. It Is the plan of local Republican leaders to hold similar meetings from time to time, the datesof which will be announced later. IK. A telt-gram received here yesterday told of the death Tuesday of Mrs. J. K. Jorgenscn of Merrill, Wis. Mrs. Jorgensen was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Semon of 309 Crater Lake avenue In this city. Mrs. Semon, who had boon with her daughter In Merrill for tho past several weeks, will arrive In Medford Sunday. WOLVES STALK CHILD fN FOREST FASTNESS OF Ml HOOD PORTLAND. Ore., Sept. 8. (AP) A. C. Bull, Portland attorney, re lated today how his sudden appear ance prevented possible death for his 4-year-old daughter when she was stalked by two giant timber wolves. . Bull said the Incident happened last Sunday In the Mount Wilson section of the Mount Hood wilder ness. His wife and another couple had gone down a leafy trail ahead of him. His daughter. Marilyn, skip ped, down the trail before him, "yell ing like all kids will." "I stepped behind a log to cut a bracket fungus," Bull said. "Sud denly I heard her scream, r looked down the trail to see two timber wolves slinking toward her. They were within 10 feet or so when I scrambled over the log 'snd yelled and waved my arms. They raced Into the timber and disappeared. "Had she been 60 feet farther down the trail she -would have been out of my sight and I don't know what would have happened." He Identified the animals as huge, gray timber wolves. A forest ranger said wolves were fairly common In the area. car In Saturday's test and with his bands off the steering wheel, will drive Into two logs at 30 miles per hour, a huge 400-pound sandbag at seventy miles per hour, with shot gun, blow out first a front tire, a back tire and then two tires on one side while going at the 70-mlle per nour gait.
