PROVES NO HELP Failure to Recover Sight Fails to Halt Romance Nazarene Minister's Sight Is Improved by Operation BAN FRANCISCO. Aug. 17. F A blind youth, whom surgery failed to aid materially, found new courage today In his battle for sight, from the bride he never has seen, while a middle-aged minister, his vision partially restored, longed for the first clear look at his wife and daughter. The blind bridegroom, undaunted by an unsuccessful operation, was John Terry O'Connell, 31, honey mooning with the former itotty Scotchler, 19. They fell In love three years ago when she was a readsr for the sightless In a Berkeley school. O'Connell, tall, blonde and hand some University of California at Berkeley student, said he hoped some day he would be able to see his wife, who guided his hand as he slipped a wedding ring on her finger In Berke ley yesterday. He will take further treatments for an eye ailment that haa blinded him since childhood. The Rev. U. E. Harding, Naeareno minister of Portland, Ore., was one step closer today to his first clear vision of his wife and 37-year-oUl daughter Evelyn. Mr. Harding has been bund 43 of his 63 years. Yesterday he left the hospital where on August S the clear cornea from an elderly dead woman's eye replaced the diseased "window" in his own eye In a rare and delicate operation. He already can dlstln gulsh objects. A young Sacramento pianist. Ar thur Morton, who received new cor nea tissue from the same woman that supplied the Rev. Harding, Mrs. Margaret Carr, Bl, of Berkeley, will leave the hospital today his vision also partially restored after six yean os aancness. ' FLIERS SEEK OUSTING SALEM AIRPORT HEAD SALEM.
