PAGE THREE Society By Clara Conger-Cald well Wedding Rites Held Sunday On Sunday, at a beautiful 4 o'clock ceremony held In the Baptist church. Ml&s Doris Conger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Conger of this city, became the bride of Dr. William E. Caldwell, son ot Mrs. Elizabeth 8 Caldwell of Corvallls. The bride, a charming brunette, was gowned In white lace over satin with a white net veil. Her bouquet was of white roses and bouvardla. Maid of honor was the bride's sister. Mist Leona Conger. She wore a dress of peach colored brocade and carried a sheaf of Talisman roses and del phinium. White gladioli, a bit of plcardy and banks of green with tall candelabra on either side of the altar were the church decorations. The Rev. Wulford A. Dawes officiated In the Impres sive service. Mrs. Catherine Wendt as wloist rendered "At Dawning" and the ever beautiful "Because." Kenneth Ray mond at the organ 'played the wed ding march. Dr. Caldwell's best man was Forest Majors of Klngvllle, Idaho, and ush ers were Wayne Lowry, John Nleder meyer and Lew Conger, brother of the bride, all of Medford. and 8tan Gregory of Columbus, Ohio. The bride's mother was gowned In printed chiffon with matching acces sories and a corsage of gardenias After the wedding ceremony, 90 guests were bidden to the Conger home on Ross lane for the reception. Out-of-town guests at the wedding Included the following: Mr. and Mrs. Martin Conger and daughter Flor ence of Corvallls, Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth McKleod of Corvallls, Rosemary Larson of Alsea, Ore., and Mrs. Eliza beth Caldwell, the bridegroom's nvth er, of Corvallls. Following the reception, the newly wedded couple left by motorcar for Victoria, Lake Louise and Banff In Alberta, Canada, and other northern resorts. They will return to Cor vallls after a month's wedding trip to make their home. Dr. Caldwell tfl assistant professor of chemistry at Oregon State college. Mrs. Caldwell will attend the college. Mrs. Caldwell resided In this eity with her parents for a number of years. She Is a graduate of Medford high school where she was outstand ing In scholastic activities and prom inent In social affairs of the youn? set. She attended Oregon State col lege for two years and Is a member of Sigma Kappa, social sorority, and Phi Chi Theta, honorary secretarial fraternity. Dr. Caldwell attended the School of Mines In Butte, Mont., where- he received his metallurgical degree. At tJniversity of Wisconsin he acquired his doctor of philosophy degree. He Is also a member of Alpha Tau Omega, , social national fraternity. Phi Lambda Upsllon, chemistry hon orary fraternity, Sigma Zl, research national fraternity ' and Alpha Chi Sigma, professional honor ary fraternity. Dr. Caldwell is captain of the chemical warfare re serve officers unit. He received con siderable distinction this year when his name appeared in the Young Men's "Who's Who" book. Allen Smith and Viola Canterbury, former .resi dents of Medford, were witnesses. The young couple both attcni Medford high school and are well known members of Medford '9 young er set. After next week, Mr. and Mrs. Coss will be at home to their many friends In Oold Hill where Mr. Coss will bo associated with his father in the Gold Hill Market. Many entertainments are being planned for the couple this week. Rinabarger Home Scene of Party The Harry Rinabarger home was the scene of a gay party Saturday evening when Mrs. RlnaUarger en tertained In bonor of her husband, the occasion being Mr. Rlnabareer's birthday. The evening was spent In dancing end much merriment added to tho affair when the women guests don ned fancy dancing costumes. A de lectable Italian dinner was served later in the evening. Guests participating In the birth day event included Mr. and Mrs. Roy Elliott. Mr. and Mrs. M. Llebman, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schuler, Mr. and Mrs. Merrltt Merrlman, Mr. and Mrs Frances Prescott, and Mr. and Mra. Myrle Merriman. Mrs. Rinabarger was recipient of the high prize for the pinochle play ani also the travelling prize. Lodges Enjoy New Grounds Nearly 100 members of the I. O. O. F. and Rebekah lodges of the valley gathered at the new picnic ground.: Sunday for a most enjoyable dy The new grounds were recently pur chased by the Odd Fellows of Cen tral Point, and are located at the mouth of Big Butte creek across Rogue river at McLeod. All members were seated at one long table during the picnic dinner After the dinner the gathering was called to order by Ed Vincent of Central Point and nil Joined In com munity singing of "America," the in vocation was given by A. J. Hanby after which a talk was given by John Anderson who recently returned from a trip to Sweden and Norway. Pro fessor A. J. Hanby gave the dedlca torlal address and the grounds were named "Camp Jericho," Brief speeches were presented by A. E. Powell, editor of the Central Point American and by members from the lodges of Ashland, Medford, Jacksonville, Central Point, Oold Hill and Grants Pass. The picnic was such an enjoyable affair that more of them are being planned for the near future. Ohms Back From South Mr. and Mrs, A. J. Ohrn and daugh ter Joan Hunt returned to MedforU recently from a fortnight's vacation spent in southern California. The Ohrns visited friends and rel atives In Los Angeles and HollywoKl while their daughter enjoyed a week's sojourn on Catalina Island. The group also spent a week visiting in San Francisco. Fields manager, has start ed work on construction of a dry land dredge on Poorman'a creek In the Jacksonville district. As the land Is dredged the earth will be replaced and present plans call for establish ment of a cattle ranch. Five thous and acres of land have been pur chased by the foundation. Expensive testing of the land has been made over the past year. A number of cottages and other buildings have been constructed closo to the Ruch-Jacknonville highway.
