Tal bott and Guy W. Conner of C16 West Belmont street, were In Seattle. Wash., today to attend the funeral of their brother, W, W. Conner, ,who waa head of an Insurance brokers company bearing his name. Mr. Conner died In a hospital In Seattle Tuesday morning. He was a member of the general committee of the Northwest Aviation Planning Council and was to have attended the council's con ference In Medford, September 16 and 17. .Funeral services are to be held In Seattle tomorrow. Position Announced Mro. Dolph Phlpps of Medford has been appointed a member of the state advisory com mittee of the national youth admin istration and will serve until June 30, 1930, according to an announce ment by Ivan G. Munro, Oregon director of the NYA. The appoint ment was made by Orren H. Lull, national deputy executive director of the NYA at Washington. D. C. ON BEAVER STATE The annual Beaver Boys State pro vided an experience of exceptional value for all the youths who at tended the encampment, It was the consensus of the Medford campers who reported at Wednesday night's meeting of the American Legion in the armory. The encampment, part of the American Legion's national program I to teach the country's youth the principles of self government, was held last week at Portland, ten boys from Medford attending. Reports on various phases of the encampment were given at the Amer- lean Legion meeting by Burton j Daugherty, William Hollo-vay. Jr., j Charles Boyden and Dick Nelson The ; boys told how city, county and state i governments were organized by the 'Junior statesmen" under competent advisers, sharp competition develop ing for election to the public offices. By banding together the Medford, j Grants Pasa and Roseburg groups wielded an important influence in the various, elections and annexed ! many of the desirable offices for this section of the state, the Legionnaires were told. The recreational advantages of the dally schedule were outlined by the boys, as well as the programs each evening which included outstanding speakers and varied entertainment. The Medford boys said tney were enthusiastic over the educationa. benefits of the encampment and voiced a desire to go again. Jack Gordon. Grants Pass Legion naire who accompanied the boys to the encampment, opoke highly of the youths deportment. , Legionnaire George Hoard spoke on the "national salesmen's crusade" for better business. . Annual installation of Medford post officers will be held August 24, It was announced by John Enders, chairman of the Installation com mittee.
