Increasing numbers are taking ad vantage ol traveling by a workman's ticket on the railways. Within the last three yeara the number of Journeys made on work men's tickets on the four main-Una railways the Southern railway. Oreat Western railway, London, Mid land and Scottish and the London Nortu Eastern railway has Increas ed by more than 25,000,000. This fig ure la more than over a quarter of the Increase In the total number of Journeys made. Improvements In trade are held by the railway companies to be re sponsible In part for this early-rlslng tendency. More people are at wnrk, and others are moving to the sub urbs or to council estates. By rising a little earlier they can get these cheaper workmen's tickets to bring Uiem to their work places In the center of London and other big towns.
