Approximately 330.000 checks have been Issued for an av erage of $11.80 per check. The commission has handled 73. 103 original claims, of which 300 wore for workers now living here who ac states. It was an unexpected break In the routine she has followed since she took up residence In Blanchard's home with the avowed intention of not leaving until he married her. All Very Merry The red-haired Mrs. Heusser loved It. Sometimes she halted the mim icry to correct the woman guard's accent. It was all very, very merry. But when she went to bed at last she apparently was still determined to continue her strike until Blanch ard arrived to claim her as his bride. There was no hint earlier today that she was to depart so abruptly. Mrs. Heusser, divorced from a Swiss, has two children. V. F. W. J in E Crster Lake Poat 1833, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will meet at the Armory Friday at 8 p. nv, as this Is the last meeting before the con vention in Salem. July 9 to 13. A large attendance is desired. Delegates to the convention will be given tneir credentials, and plans for the trip to Salem will be completed. The convention this year will be the biggest ever held by the Vet erans of Foreign Wars In Oregon. The sessions will be held in the new Capitol building. Gov. Chas. Martin, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, will deliver the ad dress of welcome and take part In the memorial ceremony for departed comrades. The parade, which Is one of the big events of the convention, will have five bands and eight drum corps in line, including the famous Military Order of the Cootie drum corps of Portland. All overseas veterans who have made application for membership In Crater Lake Post 1833 are requested to be present Friday night to re ceive the obligation, as the member ship roster must be completed at this meeting so reports of member ship can be taken to the convention. Members of the Military Order of the Cootie, who are going to the con vention and have not received their equipment, will be Issued their re galia.
