"Three comrades" tells the story of three young men who go through war together and, upon dis charge when the Armistice Is signed, decide to throw their luck together for the common good. Rehabilitation In a world torn apart by unrest is a difficult task, and a task made even more difficult when the three differ so widely in tem perament. One is a romanticist play ed by Robert Taylor; another la a hardened realist whose only passion la for his racing automobile, a part in which Franchot Tone excels: while the third, as characteiized by Robert Young, Is the young idealist opposing radical elements seeking to under mine his country. Whey Taylor falls In love with Mar garet Sullavan. a ray of happiness seems to have finally penetrated into the otherwise somber life of the three comrades. But life decrees otherwise. She Is stricken seriously 111 while the two are on their honeymoon and Tone sells his proudest possession, his "baby" the racing car to raise funds necessary for the medical at tention she needs. Young becomes embroiled in a political fight and los es his life. The resulting dramatic episodes wherein Taylor and Tone are left to themselvea alone main tain the spirit of the book the spir it that his resulted in the picture being classed as one of the finest dramas of the year. ' Jangle Cannibals In "Man Hunters" Opening at Rialto Thrill seekers are promised the time of their lives at the Rialto the atre, where "Man Hunters Of The Caribbean" opens a two day run to day. Actually filmed at a cost of sev erai human lives, Andre Roosevelt -and Captain E. Eraklne Loch and par ty of explorers penetrated the savago Central American Jungles to capture : on celluloid the actual rites and hab itats of probably the world's last man eating cannibals. These barbarians have a stronghold in the badlands and rocky wilds of the part of Cen tral America Just oft the Caribbean Sea. Unwanted guesta risk their lives yearly to get a glimpse of this un holy tribe, but the only ones to sue- : ceed the journey were Roosevelt and Loch. Ferocious beasts and reptiles are as much of a menace to adven turers as the tribesmen themselvea, Andre Roosevelt, explorer extraor dinary, and Captain E. Ersklne Loch, also a fearless adventurer, have made the film along the lines that Frank Buck has used in his many African successes. They have woven a ro mance and a treasure hunt into the film in order to make It of more hu man Interest. Also the rare treat of an adventure film are the uncanny and interesting animals that were caught unaware and filmed en route. If the wild animal fights, the sav age man-eating cannibals and the burled areasure are not enough to satisfy the lust of the adventure lover, the fight beneath the sea be tween Roosevelt and a hooded mys tery man should make up for all the others put together, A second feature, "Crashln Thru Danger," will Dlay on the same bill today and tomorrow only at the Rial to theatre.
