a fanfare of excited preparation for
Ita new billion-dollar program.

sary review. The old program re
sulted In 16.902 federal and 10,843
non-federal projects coating $4,83fl,

16, having been Informed of the In
tention of certain grocery and food
stores to open their placea of busi
ness on Sundsy, unsnlmously voted
to protest such action sa subversive
to the public weal and In defiance
of well-established and universally
recognized moral and religious cus
tom. "We believe such action unwar
ranted ana unjustified. We urge all
store owners In the city of Mertford
and vicinity to strictly observe the
spirit snd the letter of the observ
ance of Sunday aa a day of rest and
worship, for both themselves and
I heir employes, and we urge all our
rlttens and esperially all membera of
religious organlmttone to confine
the purchase ol household necessi
ties to the six-day period and to use
their Influence to discourage any
