A Justice court Jury returned a ver
dict yesterday afternoon finding La
Vert Twltchell, 38, farmhand, guilty
of driving an auto while under the
Influence of Intoxicating liquor. The
Jury deliberated ten minutes.
Twltchell was sentenced to 30 days
In the county Jail, fined $100 and
his driver's license was. suspended for
one year.
Another Justice court Jury yester
day returned a verdict of not guilty.
In favor of Louie Thomson, charged
with petty larceny. The action in
' volved portions of a well-drilling out
fit. Albert A. Rogers and Wayne Olson,
recent arrivals from Klamath Fall,
charged with attempting to rob a
rooming house, were each sentenced
to 60 days In Jail on a vagrancy
charge. The court rejected thsir
pleas to be allowed to go to Cali
fornia, where they claimed they bad
employment.
Trenton Tucker, charged with haul
ing more than allowed, under a farm
ers' license, was assessed $1 and cosrta,
Tucker, en route to Klamath Falls,
had 4.090 pounds of Mrs w berries
aboard, while the limit la 4,000
pounds.

Six Known Dead In
Coal Pit Explosion

men were known to be dead, alx
others seriously burned and two were
missing today as the result of an ex
plosion today In the Butler mine of
the Volpe Coal company In this east
ern Pennsylvania anthracite field.
Possibility of a higher death toll
was Indicated by rescuers who said
they were searching for those who
might be alive rather than bodies.
