They expect to vacation there about ten days. Ice Cream Social An ice cream social will be given by the Ladles' Aid society of St. Peter's Lutheran church this evening on the church lawn at Eajrt Main street and Portland avenue. Tackle Stolen Miscellaneous fish ing tackle, including a valuable four foot pole, was stolen from the garage of Thomas Flynn, 319 North Oakdale avenue, sometime since last Saturday night, the owner reported to city police. Mr. Flynn told police the lock on the garage door was broken to effeot entrance. Building Permits Arthur Short of 631 Palm street applied at the city building inspector's office yesterday for a permit to enlarge a kitchen and build a new porch at a stated cost of 3O0. Martha A. Brandon of 311 North Ivy street applied for a permit to remodel a private garage at a stated cost of 50. Driver Tests examination of ap plicants for licenses or permits to operate cars will be held here as usual Saturday. Ward McReynolds, state examiner, and his staff will be in council chambers on the top floor of city hall from 8 to 5 and applicants are asked to report between those hours. ' LURE BOY TUMBLES OUT OF MOVING AUTO Charles Tie, three-yesr-old son of S. a. Tie of Losler Lane, was treated for a slight head bruise and super flclal scratches at Community hos pital last night alter falling out of his father's car, traveling west an East Main street at at a slow rate of speed. The Perl ambulance, returning from the Community hospital, waa driving along behind the Tie ma chine and ruahed the little boy back to the hospital, where It was deter mined he was only slightly Injured. Mr. Tie said the car door apparently opened suddenly, causing his son to tumble to the pavement. LOCAL STUDENTS WIN PRIZES ON L-N QUIZ Roger Henselmsn and Kay Naka glrl, members of this year's high school graduating class, won state prizes in the national contest con ducted by the League of Nations association. It waa announced today by C. Glenn Smitn, principal, Henselmsn wou second state prize and Nakagtrl third, the former re ceiving $10 and the latter $5. The oontest comprises a 214-hour examination on the Leag-w of Na tions, Its purposes and functions. The Grange gams Valley Grange Orange will meet June 4 and a good attendance la desired as the meeting Is set for election of an alternate delegate to the state Grange session at Klamath Falls. Memorial services were held the second meeting In May honoring the membera deceased since organ ization of the order. The following members assisted: Mrs. Maud Grant, Mrs. R. E. Kealon. Mrs. H. Pyle.
