It'a Jessie's dancingest best I TODAY In Rialto Role Shtrley Deane. featured In "A Trip To Paris," starring the Jones Family and playing at the Rialto theatre to day and tomorrow as the companion feature with "Sailing Along," is the grand niece of Frank Redden, Mrs Cora Oarder and Mrs. A. S. Bliton of Medford. Miss Deane la the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Aronsen of San Fran cisco, who are quite often Medford visitors. Jessie Matthews, the dancing di vinity, stars in "Sailing Along," which also Includes Roland Young in the cast. Alice Faye, Tyrone Power, Don Ameche In Craterian Hit Only once in a "blue moon" Is there a movie so truly great that no one con help but applaud It. And Into such a category falls "In Old Chi cago," which opened a five' day run to capacity crowds last night. Not one person that o&me from the theatre last night was able to apeak, so completely were they taken In by the great American Epic. The stars Tyrone Power. Alice Faye and Don Ameche gave superb performances--but the most outstanding role of the whole picture was played to per fection by Alice Brady that of Mrs. O'Leary, whose three boys raised caln In Chicago and whose cow kicked the lantern over that started the great fire that destroyed the colorful city of vice and romance. Miss Brady has won the years Motion Picture Academy Award for this performance and she deserves it. Other outstanding roles are played by Andy Devine, oa the bay-windowed bodyguard of Tyrone Power; Brian Donlevy, political enemy of Tyrone Tom Browa. as the little brother of the O'Learys; and Berton Churchill, as the socially ambitious senator from IUonola. The picture starts with Mrs. O' Leary bringing her three boys Into the 1854 brawdy city of Chicago and by a dint of a lady's fancy mud spattered dinner gown, launches her self upon a career as laundress In order to send ner boys to school. The boys grow up and by 1870 Bob O'Lcary (Tom Brown) is married to a German girl. Jack O'Leary (Don Ameche) la a struggling attorney and Dion (Tyrone Power) is making his first Inroads Into politics. Dion first swings Into his stride when he woos Belle Fawcett (Miss Faye) so that he can control the choice site for a saloon which will drive his political boss (Brian Don levy) out of business. The violent love scenes end with a sightly sub dued Belle Fawcett becoming Dion's aide In a series of machinations which are culminated by a political plot and THURS. electing Brother Jack O'Leary as re form mayor of Chicago. The strartge O'Leary tribe flghte tooth and nail at times, and the ollmax comes when Dion has his brother perform the marriage cere mony that la to lead Indirectly up to the fire and the end of Jacfc O' Leary and Chicago. But a new day is born and from the first scene to the last the au dience la completely "pwallowed-up" by the exciting episodes In the great epic picture. The fire which lasu around twen ty minutes on the screen Is a reve lation in the art of movie make-believe and outdoes the famous earth quake scene of "Ban Francisco" and the hurricanes of 'Hurricane.' In truth "Tn Old Chicago" Is a picture that should be seen by all. 4 Sams Valley 8AMS VALLEY. June 1. (8pl. Mre.
