freezing compartment of home re
frigerators so that Ice cream may be

In addition to regular fountain
and lunch service, a special plate
luncheon will be featured In the new
Roxy Ann.

President Roosuvelt declined today
to say "yea" or "no" to the question
of whether he was eon suited before
hand on Harry Hopkins' statement
endorsing a candidate for the Dem
ocratic senatorial nomination In
Iowa.
Hopkins told newsmen last week
If he were citizen of Iowa he would
vote for Representative Wearln In
preference to Senator Gillette.
The president said that If he ans
wered the question yes It would bn
Interpreted as favoring one candi
date. If he answered no, he said It
would be Interpreted to the advan
tage of the other candidate. In fu
ture, he added, he would not answer i
such questions either from candidates
or the press.
Asked whether he waa supporting j
one of Iowa candidates over the oth
er he replied that he was taking the
position he had taken In previous
primaries and refused to amplify that
statement.

weather checked the run-off of snow
from the mountntna today and vir
tually eliminated the menace of se
rious lowland floods in the wide
baaln drained by the Columbia river.
Major Columbia river tributaries
receded, stemming the rapid rise of
the last few days. The government
weather bureau predicted a fall In
tne snake river would offset pos
sible rises In leaner streams.
