Society By Clara Luncheon, Card Party Enjoyable Event of Tuesday An enjoyable luncheon and card party was held Tuesday afternoon In the women'! clubrooma at the Elk temple. Mrs. L. Llebmen and Mrs, O. A. Hamlin were Joint hoateaaes for the affair. The table waa attractive with oenterplece of azaleas and candlea. Following luncheon the afternoon was spent In playing pinochle. First prize waa won by Mra. Harry Rtnabarger, second prise by Mr. D. O. Fredrick and traveling award by Mrs. J. W. Batea. Guests present Inoluded Mra. Prank Bellinger. Mrs. A. F. Stennett. Mra. Maud Snider. Mra. Rlnabarger, Mrs. Predertck and Mrs. Bates. Mora and more the recently deo orated ladles' clubrooma of the Hike temple are being used for private social affairs as the attractive ap pointments and arrangement make It a pleasant place for parties. Mrs. Rosenfield Visits' Parents Mrs. John M. Rosenfield arrived on the train this morning from her home In Hollywood and will be the house guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Fuson, for a week or two. Tomorrow. Simpsons Depart For Burlingame Mr. and Mrs. Jack Simpson are among Medford residents spending the Memorial Day holiday out of town. The couple will depart tomorrow by motorcar for Burlingame, Calif., where they will week end with Mr. Simpson's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. David Lamoraux. Following the Burlingame vlaltthey will go to Sacramento where Mr. Simpson will attend a Standard Oil Flamo specialists meeting. They ptsn to return to their Howard street home here In a week. Medical Auxiliary Luncheon Enjoyed Jackson County Medical society auxiliary members enjoyed a lun eheon Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mra. Dwlght Plndley on Olen Oak Court. An Interesting program consisted of a puppet show belonging to Miss Gladys Benge, Junior high school teacher, students assisting Miss Benge with the show were Eva Hed rick. Patterson Children Visit Grandparents Mrs. Nora Sanders returned yester day by train from Mlllbrse. Oal where she haa spent the lsst six months at the home of Mr. and Mrs. RuseeU J. Patterson. Mra. Patterson Is the dsuehter of uisinct Attorney and Mrs. Frank Newman. Junior and dene Ellen, the Pat. tersons' children, returned with Mrs Bandera and will visit their grand- parents during the summer months. Group Leaves for . Week's Vacation Mr. and Mrs. Harry S. Hlnman. ac companied by Mr. and Mra. O. O Falling, left Medford today by motor for the north, where they will enjoy a week s vacation. , The group plans to visit In Port land and then proceed to Bonneville dam, then to Yakima, Wash., and Orand Coulee dam. On the return trip they will stop In Seattle for a brief sojourn, after wbloh they will reutm to their respective homes here. Miller, 38, for the past year district veterlnsrtan with the CCO headquarters here, died this morning at a local hospital following an emergency appendectomy. Dr. Miller, a flrat lieutenant In the veterinary reserve, had been on duty aa meat and food Inspector for the district and apparently had been 111 for some weeks but had not consid ered his condition serious. Gentle, COO district surgeon, will ac company the body as military rep resentative. Arrangements are being made by the Conger funeral home. Dr. Miller waa a graduate of Wash ington stats college. Prior to coming on CCC duty, he had served as meat Inspector for the city of San Fran cisco.
