No Forest Fire What was report ed to Rogue River national forest headquarters yesterday aa a forest fire near Crystal turned out to be a controlled burning to clear 25 acres of private land within the forest boundary, It was reported today by Slmert Jarvl, assistant forester. After an ERA crew had been dispatched to fight the reported fire, Mr. Jarvl and Owen Aydolott went from here to Investigate the blaze. They found everything In order, the planned fire being attended and completely under control, Mr. Jarvl said. Bids Asked The United States army today called for bids for the erection of two 50-foot poles at Mod- ford municipal airport. The poles are to be placed 118 feet apart to carry antenna for the radio station being Installed here by the army. Information regarding the work and blanks for the bids may be procured at the airport from Sgt. William Daws, In charge of the army air corps unit here. The bids must reach the Presidio in San Francisco in time to be opened at 10 a. m. Monday, Sgt Daws said. Fosesters Here K. P. This zany comedy starts on a novel note, Introducing Joan Blon dell as the new operator of the de funct private detective agency of her sleuth-husband, Melvyn Douglas. now happily reinstated on the dis trict attorney's staff. And lo, a mur der. Douglas, assigned to solve It, Is amazed, and not at all pleased, to learn that his bewildering young wife Is working Independently on the self-same mystery. The comedy - clash that ensues leaves Douglas the most harassed young man in town.
