Mil ham a new (lr truck which will climb hill In the city without atrenuous puffin; and will be equip ped to deal with any blaze. The olty council decided to accept the bid of the American La Prance com pany on a new fin truck for the olty fire department after long dis cussion Wednesday. The action of the council In sel acting the La Prance equipment came after several weeks of invent Igatlon and careful, methodic study. i It will cost $8809 after allowance for the old truck Is made. The now fire flghtlug craft will be a 1038 custom built Job with 13 cylinders and 100 horsopowor mo tor. It will bear a 600 gallon rotary gear pump and a ISO gallon booster tank. The house body will contain 1.400 feet of hose. Other equipment will be a 28-foot extension ladder and a 13-foot ladder, one soda and acid extinguisher end one foam ex tinguisher. Ninety days will be required to build the truck at the plant In Slmlra, New York. About 31 feet long from front bumper to rear step, the truck will hsve a top speed of 70 miles Tier hour and a second gear speed of 40 mites per hour. The new machine will replace the . In the preceding quarter no dividend payment was made. Net profit for the quarter ended March 31 was 2,109,909, or 48 cents a common shore.
