In fact, there hal been a steady In crease In the number of registered vot ters since the 1B30 census, which might Indicate that voters gradually are becoming conecloua of the oper atlon of their state government. Since 1930 the number of register ed Toters has Increased 33 percent, while the population, based on state planning board estimates, ll only 10 percent larger. Baker Cains Most. Baker county, with a gain of 100 percent, had the largest Increase In registration, but lta population In crease during the eight years was only 7 percent. The state planning board estimated that Oregon's population last year was 1,007.700, compared with 9fll. 084 In 1930. . The gain during the seven years was 10 percent, compared with 31 .8 percent between 1920 and 1930. But of the net gain of 9,4 during the seven years, 81,630 persona mi grated from other states. This lesves a natural Increase of only 15,118. leading the board to believe that It might not be long before there are more deaths than births In the state. Htate Population Oaln. The state, excluding Multnomah county, Increased Its population to SOS. 80S In the seven years, or 13.2 percent. The new poulatton consist ed of 57,097 migrants and 17.019 nat ural Increase. Multnomah county's population rose to 361,895 or 0.1 percent, an In crsse of 33.578 migrants snd a nat ural decrease of 2,808. Malheur county had the largest population Increase, gaining 84.2 per cent to 15.363. Klamath county, which gained 183.9 percent from 1920 to 1930, Increased 14.1 percent, hav ing a population last year of 37,044. The estimated 1937 population for other counties last year and the per centage of gain between 1980 and 1937 follow: Baker 18)g7 and 7 percent, Clacka mas 63.348 and 14.8, Clatsop 28,108 and 7.9, Coos 81 ,302 and 9.7. Des chutes 16.289 and 9.8, Douglaa 25.266 and 18.6, Hood River 11,671 and 28.8, Jackson 38,903 and 10.8, Josephine 14,005 and 20.3, Lane 82.343 and 14.2. Linn 89.327 and 18.2, Marlon 69.444 and 13.6. Polk 20.042 and 16.9, Tilla mook 11.859 and 1.1. Umatilla 36.809 and 4.1, Union 18.334 and 8.6, Wasco 13.236 and 4.7, Washington 36.472 and 20.4, and Tamhlll 26,038 and 10.6.
