ANTELOPE, April 35. (Spl.) Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Hatlctt sold their
ranch recently and are now residing
at Beagle. We regret their departure
from this community and extend aln-
cere wishes Ior continuous prosperity
and contentment In their new home.
A farewell party, sponsored by Mrs.
Holtls Burton and Mrs. D. Davles was
given In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Hat
lett, the evening of the 16th. Those
present were: Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cul
bertson and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Wood and sons, Mr. and Mrs.
Wilfred Davles and children, Mrs.
Louisa Oreb. Mr. and Mra. Hollls Bur
ton and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert
Dlgham and children, Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence Davles and daughter, and

Bernett. The young folka played
games while their elders were visit
ing, till a late hour, when cakes and
coffee were served.
Antelope school was the scene of a
lively gathering Friday afternoon
when small tots and their mother
accepted Mlea Wright's generous in
vitation to an Enater ogg hunt and
party with her pupils. The program
consisting of two plays was greatly
enjoyed. These wore: "Have You
Seen the Easter Rabbit?" presented
by primary grades, and "The Princess
Who Wouldn't Laugh" portrayed by
the upper gvndco according to their
own Ideas. Miss Wright then told
the smaller children a story to hold
their attention white the Easter
bunny was , busy hiding eggs In the
yard. When a signal from the warn
ing whistle sounded there waa a
general stampede to the "ner.tlng"
grounds. After the last egg was dis
covered the entire group assembled
In the school house where each moth
er and child was presented with a
daintily filled Easter basket fash
ioned by the children In art work,
and served refreshments of cleverly
shaped cookies and fruit punch.
Those enjoying the party besides the
pupils, were Mrs. Wm. Blgham and
daughter Cora, Mrs. Elbert Blgham
and daughters, Mrs. Holtls Burton
and son Bruce, Mrs. Jack Wood and
son Bobby and daughter Marie, Mrs

Tha Antelope Literary club meet
ing of April 15 proved unusually In
teresting owing to an auction sale
of piano, oil stove, gaa lamp and box
suppers, held after the evening's pro
gram. BUI Walsh acted as auctioneer.
The excellent program contained
the following numbers: a piano duet
given by Mrs. John Oreb and Mrs. C.
Culbertson: two plays. "Have you

A book report on the life of a Japa
nese woman by Nelle Von der Hellen;

members of the audience, and "School
Day Reminiscences", also given by
ones chosen from the audience.
The program committee for next
month Ls Marie Wood aaslgned to
lead the girls' group and Prank Brown
to line up the boys' part of the
entertainment.
Antelope Women's club met Wed
nesday with large attendance at the
home of Mrs. Arvllla Blair. Mrs. W.
McDowell, a former resident of this
community, assisted Mrs. Blair. A
plant sale, held to help raise our
4H club's share of the money needed
to buy scales, netted a tidy sum.
Visitors present were Mrs. Rummell,
Mrs. Chit wood, and Mrs. Bob Bitter
ling and Mrs. Blngman. A number
of Pollyanna gifts were exchanged
Next meeting of the Woman's club
will be held the 18th of May at the
home of Mrs. C. Culbertson with Mrs.
Luther Day assisting.

nouncement of the birth of a son to
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Ecklcs at Wood
land. Calif., April 13. The baby
weighed seven pounds and has been
named Ivan Miller. Mrs. Ecklcs Is
the former Miss Bernlco Orubb. Her
mother, Mrs. Matilda Orubb, who haa
spent the winter with a daughter.
Mrs. Edit.h Gates, at Elk ton, Ore.,
visited here recently, while en rout
to Woodland and Haley, Idaho. Mrs.
Orubb expected to visit a slater at
Dunsmulr, and will spend the sum
mer at Haley with her daughter, Mrs.
Paul Erdman.
Sixth annual playday for the Ap
plegate schools, scheduled at Rueh,
May 20th. will be held May 19th. The

had been fed at Mr. Offenbacher
ranch during the winter. Other local
farmers report that their farms still
resemble duck ponds from the lats

down to the handles.
