(Spl.) Thirteen hundred grade school students have been registered to par ticipate In the ninth annual public chool music festival to be held on the Normal school campus April 28 and 29. Entries have been received from Beaver Creek, Prwpect, Derby. Bcll vtew. Oak Grove. Rogue River, Gold H,ill, Evan Valley, Wagner Crw?, Weat Side; A&hland, plnehurst, Phoe- nix. Medford and Talent schools In Jackson county; from Jerome Prairie, Fort Vannoy. Wolf Creek and Grants Pass schools In Josephine county, and from the Klamath Falls schools In Klamath county. Grade Events April 28. Grade school children will enter events scheduled for Thursday. April 38, including the chorus of unchanged vclce directed b7 Miss Louise Wood ruff of the Normal Bchool, the mixed chorus directed by Mrs. Dorothy Mor ris of Phoenix, the Junior band di rected by Miss Llllie Darby, super visor of music In Klamath Falls, and the folk dancing under the direction of Miss Virginia Hales of the Normal school. High school students will partlcl , pate on Friday, April 29, In the girls' chorus, to be directed by Mrs. Esther Leake, music supervisor of Hertford schools; the men's chorus directed by Miss Marporle Scobert, supervisor of music In Ashland; the mixed chorus directed by Cloyd Rlffe of Grants Pass; the high school band conducted by Wilson Wait of Medford. and the orchestra conducted by Martin Trepte of Grants Pass. Feature En.oemMes. Since the purpose of the festival Is to foster Increased appreciation of music and enjoyment In group par ticipation, the ensemble numbers are featured rather than competitive groups. The festival will be held in the health and physical education build ing on the Normal school campus for the second time. Bleachers have been Installed In this building to accomo date spectators and to eliminate the crowded condition of last year. I The Midway road bridge across Bear creek, near Vie Rofrue River Meat company plant has been com pleted, the county engineer reported today. The span was washed away last winter. The steel bridge which formerly spanned Sardine creek on the Pa cific highway. Is being re-erected OTer Oalls creek near Gold Hill. The span was given to the county by the state highway commission. Six graders ere now busy placing county roads In shape for spring and summer traffic. Same of the roads are still sticky from lost win ter's heavy rains. The county Is also doing some' road work on the Oak street exten sion road In the Ashland district. No oiling will be done until warm weather sets In.
