POSTER CONTESTS GET ATTENTION OF STUDENT ARTISTS Advanced itudenta In tha senior nigh school art department are busy these days completing their entries for a number of Interesting and va ried poster contests. The posters are toeing worked out under direction Of Vlss Elizabeth Crlsell, art supervisor of the city schools. Phillip Heneelman. a Junior In high school, recently won the Oregon state first prize In a contest con ducted by the Future Craftsmen or ganization. His poster, done In art classes, hsd for Its theme "Safety In Industry.1 Its striking effect depend ed on a modern treatment of ma chine forms In different values of spray on a black background with a skull lurking In back and a warning In bold red letters, "Death Awaits the Careless Workman." Ten clever and unusual posters tave just been submitted as entries tor the third national meat poster contest. Other contests on which the students are now working are the American Legion National Poppy Poster contest, the poster competition ;or the New York World's Pair of 1080, end National Muslo Week pos ters, which will be on display In downtown windows the last week of April. The art classes are specially study ing good design and foyout and new techniques and developments In the field of commercial art. EKERSON WINS SUIT . IN KLAMATH COURT A Klamath oounty circuit court Jury leturned a verdict In favor of the defendant In the caae of Charles T. Karllk versus -Herman L. Efcarson, owned of the Ekerson Faint and Roofing atore here. The cast was tried in Klamath Falls, Judge Ed yard B. Ashurst presiding. Mr. Ksrllk: alleged a breach of an employment contract and sued for 1300. Mr. Ekerson denied the breach and made a counter-claim for $317.86. The verdict awarded Mr. Ekerson the mount claimed. Mr. Karllk was represented by Fred D. Small, Klamath Falls, and Mr. Ekerson by J. P. Pllegel, Med-ford. Clow, waa taxed for facilities last night and found It necessary to pro cure extra mattresses. There were 48 prisoners in Jail over night. Thirty-one of them were fed eral prisoners being held for trial or grand Jury action. Young Oregonians Pack Auditorium An audience that packed the Med ford senior high school auditorium to capacity attended the free vaude ville show presented last night by the young Oregonians under ansplces of the 20-30 club. The show was well received and the young per formers were warmly applauded All available space In the audito rium was occupied and by 8 o'clock the doors had to be closed, 15 min utes before curtain time.
