Even though he "was kept too busy to think of love," Brown re grets he never married. He has given more than 1100,000 to schools, orphan asylums and other charities, but never belonged to a church be cause he disapproves of the "Christ Ian habit of preaching the ten com mandments and obeying none of them." WORKERS BUSY ON WINTER PROJECTS Winter work activity at Med ford's two major projects, the municipal airport and Prescott park, la now In full swing, City Superintendent Fred cVheffel aald today. At the airport, 7 WPA employes are engaged In digging trenches, lay ing drainage tile and filling the trenches with gravel, The crew was increased early this week and will remain throughout the winter. .At Prescott park, beautiful city owned scenic and picnic area on Roxy Anne, about 180 enrol lea's of CCC Camp Prescott, located at the foot of the mountain, are working dally. They are Improving the picnic grounds on the north side of the mountain, building benches and tables and clearing away brush. The road, which circles the mountain, Is al&o being widened and leveled. Dec. 3 (AP) Possible loss of the largest single source of Chinook salmon eggs for artificial hatching was feared here following word from Prank T. Bell, federal commissioner of fisheries, that the egg take this year at hatcheries on the Columbia above Bonneville dam were less than half of normal. The hatcheries are on the Big and Little White Salmon rivers, below Celllo. AUTOS DELAY TAG APPLICATION SALEM. Dec. 8. Secre tary of Bute Snell reported today. 8nell estimated that less than 50. 000 application had been received late yeeterday. Under the law all cars lining the highways shall be equipped with current license platea by Jan uary 1. Motorists who send In their appli cation will receive their plates not later than December It, Snell aald. Actual Issuance of 1038 license plates will begin December 13 and plates may be placed on cars two daya later.
