Oregon, on the 19th day of November A. D. 1D37. at the hour of lu:uo o'clock A. M. of aald day and at the aald time and place opportunity will be given for full and complete diacuaelon of the eatlmate of me amount of money proposed to be raised by taxation for the ensuing jcar a published herewith, by any taxpayer subject to such levy when made in favor of or aganlst any of the proposed tax levies herein aa the County Court may deem for the best interest of Jackson County. The County Budget Committee for Jackson County, Oregon, has pre pared and submits the following: An estimate of the amount required lor each department of County government. Sates, president of 4-H clubs of Jackson county, called at Derby school November 1 and organised cluba for both boys and glrla. We are very enthusiastic over the results already. Mra. Kath erlne Eld red is leader for the girls. Mr. and Mrs. Eldred motored to Medford Tuesday. Mrs. Gldrcd and Mrs. Mann visited school Monday. Lfldles of the "37 Community club 750.00 ! of Derby are engaged In malting a quilt "the wheel of fortune to be sold at the next meeting. Mrs. Wm. Burg Is expecting her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mra. Wayne Maxon from Illinois this week. The oudget meeting .was well at tended Friday evening. The school was given 3 lovely pressure cooker at this meeting also. Derby school children are enjoying the transportation given them .oy Mra. Clark. Tho warm lunch at school ls prov ing very satisfactory. Last Friday Mrs. Mann made squash pie. Mrs. Chaplin and Mrs. Haynes sent pickles and relish, Mrs. Clsrk brings milk every day. Wednesday Mrs. Haynes sent three apple pies. Roberta Griffith ls chief at the dtshpan; Leonard Haynes Is "table commander of spoils"; Betty Grif fith, waitress; Eldon Deen Is "water boy." Everybody drinks milk. More lovely rock crystals were brought to school by Betty Griffith. Rollle-Griffith brought a bird's nest. We hope to have a display of na tive woods and other specimens tor our nature study work. Rev. Raleigh Griffith returned home Tuesday evening from en evan gellstlcal tour in and near Wilson, North Dskota. Mrs. Todd haa been generous with her flowers, and we appreciate them very much In the school room. Mr. King ls much Improved and will soon be able to return home. The teacherage Is to receive a kalsomlnlng next week. Colors are cream, with blue green woodwork. Chairs and a table have also been added. A Mlsa Bertie Clark of Eagle Point spent the week-end visiting her brother, Dennis Clark, and family of Derby. Mrs. Terry recently visited her father, Mr. King, who 4s Improving rapidly In the Sacred Heart hos pital. Mr. and Mrs. Wells Mann shopped in Medford Wednesday. PROSPECT. Nov. 15. (Spl.) Prospect Townsend club masquerade dance Saturday night was well at tended. Supper was served to First prize for the best costumes went to Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Nye and second prize to Mrs. George Jantzer and Ivan Nye. Mr, and Mrs. Emery Nye, Mr. and Mr. Bob Bean. Mrs. Waldo Nye and Floyd Cunningham and daughter, Beryl, were week-end guests at the Nelson Nye home. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Richardson of Klamath Falls are guests this week at the John Richardson home. Mr. and Mrs. George Jantzer left Sunday evening for Portland and on their return will spend several days at The Dalles visiting Mra. Jantzer's parents, Mr, and Mrs. Fatr chlld. Among those spending Saturday in Medford were: Mr. and Mrs. George Sherman, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Thompson and daughter, Mrs. Fran ces Pearson, Ray Zobcl, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hemingway and daughter. Mr. and Mra. Elmer Clemens and daugh ter and Mrs. Floyd Kelley. Mr. and Mrs. George Jantzer at tended the trap shoot at Yreka Sun day where Mr. Jantzer won first place. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Clarke are guests this week of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Or! eve. The Upper Rogue Grange turkey dinner Sunday netted over 100. (AP)- Fire of undetermined origin swept through the codfish reduction plant of the Union Fish company at Belve dere early today, causing damage estimated unofficially at "about. $150,000." Huge vats of fish oil about the size of an ordinary five-room house and &0 gallon drums of oil ex ploded, spreading flaming liquid over the plant. Seven explosions were heard In rapid succession, followed by lesser detonations. The oil-fed flni was visible for miles.
