It ia alwayi interfering with important business. Called down here for an international conference in matters re lating to the Far East, and the meeting adjourned Friday night, until Monday morning because of the contest in Berkeley be tween California and Southern Cal. Against our will we were persuaded to attend the game, because as the chairman an nounced there was nothing else to do on Saturday anyway, everyone on inu siae oi me Day, wouia ne in uerKeiey ana ev-1 A breeder of registered Guernsey eryone on the other side would be in the stadium or on the hill- catti.. referring to a recent article in sides overlooking it. So instead of having something interesting and vital to write about we can only make a few comments on a football game which in spite of the local sport scribes, was nothing to write home about. The weather waa a pleasant surprise, after cold and fog the day before, it was so warm, the gentleman on our right took everything off above the waist line except his undershirt, and at that we would say he lost at least 10 pounds. He had ten dol lars on Southern California and had driven all night from Al hambra. Presumably he was used to the heat, but not to losing $10 on U, S. C. Never or almost never-before have we heard such unparliamentary language. What he didn't call these hard working Trojan warriors, couldn't be found in the choicest billings gale along the Embaroadero, while Howard Jones' geneological back ground was damned all the way back to the Garden of Eden. Tes he was a poor loser. But the Trojans themselves weren't. Either they expected a trimming, or they are better sports down there than we ever believed them to be. We are inclined toward the former ex planation. For thia between-the-halves stunts were adapted to the short end of the score. A muscular Trojan warrior, scram bled out of the big bass drum leading a California bear, as he turned a grind-organ. After a few preliminary stunts, the bear was given the grind-organ and proceeded to lead the Trojan warrior around by the nose I It waa a mild representation at that, of what the football bears did to the Trojans in that first half.
