Members Plan for Luncheon at Medford Hotel Tha Medford member of the Amer ican Association of University Woman will hold a luncheon meeting Satur day at 19:80 p. m. at the Medford hotel to make plana for the fall season. Mrs. Justin Smith, recently elected president, will preside. 1 Tot the program, the girls' trio of the high school will sing several numbers under the direction of Mies Floy Young. All university women are Invited to attend the affair. The study groups will continue their programs from last year and Miss Josephine Ktrtley la leader of the social relationships group: Mrs. John Lawrence, International rela tionships; Mist Helen Parish; parent education: Mrs. Darrell Huson cre ative art. Formation of two new (roups, appreciation of music and art and interior decoration, are un der discussion. A district meeting of the A.A.O.W. Including Ashland, Klamath Falls, Merahfleld and Medford, will be held In this city November 30. India Is Subject of Circle Meeting The older young people's mission ary society, the Circle, of the First Christian church held the regular meeting Tuesday evening. Mildred Buckles led the discussion - on India. She gave a resume of the life and condition of the untouch ables of India, followed by a report en the Burgess Memorial school which Is a Christian school for all classes of natives,' The program was concluded with a report on "Building a New India" and a story of a girl of the untouchable class who able to go to school and help break down the caate system. Osmea and, refreshments followed the program. All young people over high school age are Invited to at tend these meetings each second Tuesday of the month. Friendly Helpers Club Growing The "Friendly Helpers" club,' or ganised by Mra. Oeorge Oonklln to asw for the needy, hss Increased Its membership to such an extent It has been necessary to have a Junior claas and an advanced class. The Junior group will meet each Monday, Wed nesday and Friday at 4:18 p. m. The advanced class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday at 4:15 and a p. m. on Saturdays. To Attend root hail Game At Corvallla Mr. and Mrs. Harvey J. Field will be In OorvalUs this week-end to at tend the Oregon 8tate-U.CL.A. loot ball game on Saturday. President at Central Point The Centrtl Point Women' Relief corps held special seulon Monday with the department president, Mrs, Dolly Brown of Corvallls. as Inspec tor. Mrs.' Brown reported on her trip to the national convention of the corps In Madison. Wis., in June, giv ing s vivid word picture of tJhe parades, drill teams, etc. Visiting was enjoyed during a so cial hour and refreshments were served. Ouesta from the Medford corps were Mrs. Sarah Andrus, charter member; Mrs. Minnie Tucker and Mrs. Caroline Peterson. Members of the organization are asked to npte that the regular meet ing scheduled for Saturday of this week will be omitted due to the special session. 4 Pageant Planned for D.A.R. Meeting Members of Daughters of the American Revolution will hold their October meeting Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of Mrs. A. B. Stratton. Mrs. Ralph M. Spencer, Mrs. H. F. w. SpUvcr, Mrs. P. Wilson Walt and Miss Jean OUUngs are the committee for the day. A pageant Is to be presented for the program In honor of the IftOth anniversary of the constitution. Mrs. O Q. D'Albinl Is director and the title of the pageant Is "If There Had Been Radtos in 1787." Mrs. Stuart Home will report on the correct uae of the flag. 4 Baptist Group Meets Tuesday The Ladles' Auxiliary of the First Baptist church met last Tuesday ' In the church parlors. Mrs. B. F. Neff led the devotlonals and Mrs. Roberts presided at the business meeting. Plans were made for future meet ings and a social to honor the north west seminary at Portland. 4 Mrs. Dickey Home From Tennessee Trip Mrs. Walter Dickey returned to her home Saturday after a five week's trip to Chattanooga, Term. She was nocom pa tiled east by her cousin. Mrs. Frank Peters, and daughter, Miss Marguerite Peters, who will remain In the south. Mr and Mrs. Cooley Hern From Halem Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cooley of Salem, arrived In tha city Sunday and are staying at the Jackson hotel. Mra. Cooley la a sister of Mrs. Q. O, Humphrey of Medford. Newmans Visit At Lake of the Woods Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Newmsn spent several days the first of the week at their cabin at Lake of the Woods. Chllltcothe. Pythian Group Postpones Meet The meeting of the Pytblen club planned for tonight has been post poned until further announcement. But, that la exactly what happened to Ktherlne Frances Spannaus, 17, of 1120 Mantle street yesterday after noon. Miss Spannaus. accompanied by Ward McReynolds, state examiner ol operators and chauffeurs, was doing right nicely driving on North Front street when suddenly disaster struck. A machine operated by Gideon O. Crowe of route 3 was attempting to back Into a parking space between Main and Sixth streets. Just as Mr. Crowe gave the final twist of his steering wheel to back Into the tight j bole. Miss Spannaus drove past and i cut In too sharply. The front bump ers of the two cars hooked Mr. Crowe's being broken. Regardless, Miss Spannaus got her drlver'e license. George Rogers Clark, American "frontiersman" began his career at 19, when he left home to become a surveyor of lands along the Onto river. The high lights of the conference program will be the report of the national con vention which will be given by Mrs. Zola Morgan, HUlsboro, state presi dent of the Oregon federation. Mrs. Morgan will speak at the Sunday morning session. Miss Evangeline Phllbln, atate chairman of International relations, will speak, at the luncheon on the Pan-American peace conference which was recently held In British Colum bia. Miss Phllbln attended this meet ing as official delegate of the national federation. The jamboree which Is scheduled for Saturday evening promises to be one of the outstanding fun features of the conference. Ml&a Viola Scherrer of Medford Is In charge of this feat ure, v The Grants Pass Business and Pro fessional Women's club has stated that It will bring a large delegation of members, for the entire program. They are also planning to participate In the Jamboree program. The Klam ath Falls club plana to have about 35 members In attendance. PURUCKER SKULL IS FRACTURED 1EN TRUCK UPSETS Mrs. Jack Barbour, s. of sooa Plrat avenue, Seattle, Is confined In Community hospital today with a fractured skull and minor neck and back Injuries, the result of an acci dent yesterday at about 8 p. m.. when a meat truck driven by her husband skidded and overturned at the Intersection of Stewart avenue end the Pactllc highway. Attending physician said todsy that Mrs. Barbour was resting comfort ably, and he believed, waa In no danger. The fracture, he stated, was apparently not serious. Mr. Barbour received multiple bruises, but was not badly hurt, the physician said. According to a city police report of the accident.
