IN COURT HERE
The $20,000 damage suits of Mrs.
AUean Glass against Shlchltaro
Fujll were expected to reach the Jury
In United States district court late
this afternoon.
Counsel began their Arguments to
the Jury this morning after Judge
James Alger Fee had denied defense
motions for directed verdicts In fa
vor of the defendant.
Mrs. Glass seeks 910,000 as admin
istratrix of -the estate of her hus
band, Clayburn Glass, who was fatal
ly Injured In a collision between the
Glass and Fuji! cars on the Pacific
highway north of Med ford last De
cember 22. She Is also suing for
10.000 for alleged personal Injuries
to herself. The two suits are sepa
rate but were ordered consolidated
for purpose of trial by the court.
Testimony was completed late yes
terday afternoon. Teetlfylng in his
own behalf. Fujll said the Glass car,
a model T Ford, was about 200 to
130 feet ahead of his when he first
saw It as he was proceeding toward
Central Point. He asserted the Ford
was not lighted but was disclosed
by the lights from his machine.
When he first noticed It, the Ford
was traveling toward Central Point
on the highway shoulder. PuJU testi
fied. He asserted he applied his
brakes to slow down before attempt
ing to pass the Ford, Suddenly, he
testified, the Ford swung out Into
the highway into the path of his
car without giving any signal. In
her testimony Mrs. Glass had stated
that the Ford was being turned to
proceed toward Med ford after a stop
had been made at Friend's wrecking
ycird.
Fujll stated he rendered aid to Mr.
and Mrs. Glass after the crash. Later,
at Medford Community hostptal, he
declared Mrs. Glass said to him that
she did not blame "you boys for the
accident," reference being made to a
youthful hitch-hiker Fujii said he
had picked up in Shasta, Calif. He
stated he had since been unable to
find the hitch-hiker.
In rebuttal, Mrs. Glass denied ever
having made the statement to Fujll.
Fujll said he was 37, Seattle resi
dent and exporter of lumber to Ja
pan end China. He slad he was mar
ried to an American-born wife and
had two American-born children.
Dr. Edwin R. Durno testified he
had made an examination of Mrs.
Glass on September 29 or 30. As
for as he could determine, he assert
ed, she was normal physically. He
said he found her thyroid gland was
symmetrically enlarged and that a
hyper-actlve thyroid might possibly re
sult from emotional shock after an
accident. Physical injuries would not
affect the gland, he stated.

STATE HEALTH BOARD
"The state law requires any rr
son representing themselves as
Journeyman plumbers in Oregon
to hold a certificate of competancy
from the state board of health." It
was stated today by Arthur J. Far-
rell, plumbing inspector of the
Oregon State Board of Health, who
Is in Medford.
Ho stated that the public should
demand to see this certificate
whenever nlunibing work was done
He said that if such were done, it
would help the state in weeding
out those without cards, and insure
the public receiving work from
genu he journeyman plumbers.
Mr. Farrell also pointed out that
It was a misdemeanor under the
state law for a master plumber to
employ nnyone not holding a Jour
neyman certificate and send them
out on a iob. It Is the state's policy
40 prosecute offenders when, the
violation Is discovered, he stated.
