Fishing Mediocre According to re ports from Joe Wharton of Grants Pass, steelhead fishing in Rogue river la only fair, due to Indian summer weather putting the fish down into the deep pools again, where they are hard to rise. Indications point to a greater spawning of salmon in the upper river this year than ever be fore, and will speak well for the fu ture of the Rogue as an angler's river. Slightly Injured Mrs. E. W. Seg gesman received a slight knes Injury at 8txth and Bartlett streets Tues day afternoon when she was struck by a machine driven by George B. Hoard of 812 South Oakdale avenue. according to a city police report. Hoard was backing into a parking space at the curb when his car struck Mrs. Seggesman, who stepped from the curb as the auto backed in, the report stated. McBrldes In California H. D. Mc- Brlde, former proprietor of MeBride's confectionery store here, and well known to scores of Medford people. Is now residing at Anaheim, Cal. For many years. MeBride's was the favor ite gathering place of the Medford young set. and was famous for its neighborllness and fine cooking. Mr McBrlde will be 79 In December, and his wife, 77 in November. On Octo ber 1 next, they will have been mar ried 55 years. National Guard Meets Company A and headquarters company of the Oregon national guard held its quar terly muster and Inspection last night at the Medford armory. It was an nounced that, starting next Sunday. .30-callber outdoor rifle firing would begin on the company's own range three miles north of the city. Firing will continue each Sunday until all members qualify. It was stated by Captain Carl Y. Tengwald that eight vacancies exist at present which must be filled to bring the company to full strength.
