September 23 haa been designated as Jackson county day at tne 31at an nual Josephine county lair to be held In Oranta Pass September 22 to 35, Inclusive. It haa been announced by Fred Q. Roper, secretary and man ager. With cash awards for exhibits to taling $1400 and many entertainment features planned, expectations are for the most successful celebration In the history of the fair. Roper said that a rock drilling contest had been added to the program! with the single-Jack event talcing place Sep tember 23 for a purse of $75 and the E:!l ft Ffllltr Oluilltrj Co., Iitkiril, y. Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 95 Prool double-Jack drilling to be staged the following day for a cash award of $150. Other fair features will see the world-famous Fordyce brothers present their head-on collision, each driving car t 35 miles an hour. They will also stage balloon ascensions and parachute Jumps dally. All-star base ball teams from Josephine and Jack son counties will meet September 25 in the first of a three-game series. There will be fireworks, a carnival and dancing every day. Many Jackson county farmers and ranchers are expected to enter the following exhibits to compete for cash prizes: draft horses, registered dairy cattle, awlne. sheep and goats, poul try, agriculture, horticulture women's textile, wood and metal work, culin ary, flowers and others. There will also be exhibits for 4-H club members and prizes awarded for the best displays of various minerals from any place ( In southern Oregon. Guest Pastors At Nazarene Church The Rev. Mrs. Q. O. Crow, together with her husband, pastor of the local Church of. the Nazarene eight years ago, wilt be the pulpit guest speaker at the Church of the Nazarene Sun day at 7:30 p. m. The Revs. Mr. and Mrs. Crow are visiting their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gideon Crow, and friends in Medford. They are now patorlng In California. The Rev. Mr. Oarlock will represent not only Medford post 15 and district 4 of the state department of the American MAM Lee Garlock Legion as a national delegate, but also the 40 et 8 socle te of Oregon as cheminot natlonale, an office to which he waa elected at the grand promenade In Albany next month af ter he had completed a successful administration as grande chef de gare. In his new office he will serve on the national 40 et 8 board this year. Mr. and Mrs. Garlock left last Fri day for Chicago, where Mr. Garlock planned to Join the Oregon delega tion on the special state train, for New York today. Mrs. Garlock was to remain with relatives In La Omnge. .111. The Oarlocks will visit relatives and friends In the midwest on the return trip. They expected to be gone about three weeks. Oasis Installing New Loud-speaker A new orchestra will introduce the new loud speaker system to southern Oregon dance lovers at the Oasis Saturday night, according to the management. The drift was down from the open ing, with rails leading the reversal. Coppers soon took a turn for the worse and steels were not slow in following. Although the carrier wage confer ence was still under way at Chicago, and Wall Street had thought of a compromise agreement, doubts arose regarding the outlook for an imme diate settlement. News from both foreign and do mestic fronts was spotty and seem ingly lacked particular stimulation for either the buying or selling sides.
