With Edward Arnold
Another of those masterpieces of
motion picture art., still an all too
rare pleasure for theatre goers, wss
dtsplsyed last night at the New Cra

Jim risk. The Toaat of New York"
Is a gripping and entertaining dra
matlo romance. Ita high emotional
appeal being In Ita love theme the
flamboyant courtship of faaelnattng
Josle Mansfield by the financier.
Praneea Parmer la ideally suited to
the role of Josle Mansfield, the wo
man for whom Plak tries to solidify
hla financial empire by gaining a
corner on the world gold market. Her
pleasing contralto la heard in three
songs, one of which Is "Sweet Alice.
Ben Bolt," a classic of the post-civil
War era.
Edward Arnold steps Into the 1866
frock coat and square-toed boots as
naturally aa did risk himself In his
heydey of big railroad stock manipu
lation when Commodore Vanderbllt,
Daniel Drew and othera battled with
him to gain leadership of the finan
cial world. Arnold again provea that
he la the most able cinema portrayer
of strong-hearted figures.
Cary Orsnt. as the handsome part
ner of risk, takes full advantages of
hla romantic role.
The picture will remain at the New
Craterian through Tuesday.
