G. L. Hall of McMinnvllle and his cousin, John Whltford of Chautauqua, N. Y., stopped In Medford overnight yester day. They left this morning early to continue to Klamath Falls. The Rev. Mr. Hall was pastor of the First Bap tist church here 28 years ago and will be remembered by many long-time residents. He officiated at the mar riage of his daughter, Phyllis, to Werner Plep of Coqutlle at the Hall home In McMinnvllle September 4. The young couple will make their home In Coquille. May Recover A report received here today said hope was now held for the recovery of J. W. Stanford of Piedmont. Calif., who was critically Injured early this week In an auto accident near' Evanston, Wyo. Mr. Stanford was en route to visit his daughter. Mrs. David H. Canfleld, t Rocky Mountain national park tn Colorado where Mr. Canfield la su perintendent. The Canflelds resided here while Mr. Canfleld was super intendent of Crater lake national park. He waa promoted recently to superintendent of the Colorado park. To Attend Fair Mr. and Mrs. Er nest J. Smith and Mrs. Volney DUon left thla morning by motor for Salem where they will attend the state fair. They expect to return home Sunday. Grange Meeting All famlllea at tending the Orange meeting at 8 p. m. Saturday in Oold Hill are request ed to bring sandwiches and coffee cream. Driver Cited Harold H. Eddy of Roseburg was cited by state police to appear In Justice of the peace court here September 18 to answer a charge of speeding a truck at 45 m. p. h. on the Pacific highway near Gold Hill yesterday. Radio Club Meeting Rogue Valley Radio club will hold Its first autumn meeting at 8:15 tonight at the Med ford municipal airport clubrooms. As urgent business Is to be transacted, officers requested a full attendance of members, Resumes Teaching Breynton R. Finch, for the past summer stationed In Crater lake national park as chief fire dispatcher, resumed duties this week as member of the Medford senior high school faculty. Mr. Finch was In charge of the new radio com munications system in the park. Flying South United States Rep resentatlne Nan Wood Honeyman of Portland was a brief visitor at Med ford municipal airport this morning. She was en route to Oakland on the 10:56 United Malnllner. Sprains Ankle Arthur Shaffer, em ploye of the American Prult Growera. Inc., suffered a sprained ankle last night when he slipped and fell from a truck on which he was tying a load of pears. He was taken to Com munity hospital where X-ray pictures showed his leg was not broken as was first feared. ... Enlist In Navy Completion of the September quota of three men for this district was anounced today by Ernest M. West, navy recruiter here. Selected tentatively for enlistment were Ervln G. Taylor of Des Arc. Mo., and a CCC enroltee at Camp Wimer at Rogue River, Robert E. Harper of Grants Pass and Robert O. Bailey of Klamath Falls. The three will leave here by train on September 14 for Portland where they will take their final qualifying examinations the following day. If they pass the final tests they will proceed Immediately to Sao Diego for three months of preliminary training before being as signed to actual duty. Mr. West, said he expected the quota for this dis trict to be Increased' next month. He Is receiving applications for enlist ment at his office In the federal building.
