The need of such an organization

"During the past four years, 37
labor disturbances have been delib
erately caused in California by radi
cal asiltatora who are not workers and
who have less Interest in the welfare ,
of workers than they have in the ;
overthrow of established govern
ment," the statement averred.
"It Is significant that these so
called 'labor activities' are concen
trated In districts paying the highest
agricultural wages in the world the

President Roosevelt signed today a
bill authorizing the secretary of
agriculture to enter into marketing
agreements with bee keepers.
Congress earlier had renewed agri
cultural adjustment act marketing
agreement provisions applicable to
milk and other farm commodities,
but honey was not Included in the
first authorization.

Preparations were completed today
to accommodate a large crowd at Che
benefit dance and social to be held
In the Jacksonville Orange hall to
morrow under auspices of the Jack
son county agriculture committee.
The affair Is being held to raise
funds for a highly respected Jackson
county family, beset by several se
rious misfortunes during the past
year. Food and medicines are among
the Items that are urgently needed.
Learning ot the family's plight,
friends arranged among themselves
to render eld. The movement spreaa
spontaneously and the agriculture
committee volunteered to take charge
of the benefit.
All county Orangea are participat
ing In the affair and the public is
Invited to attend and help the cause.
The Jacksonville orchestra will
provide music at the hall and several
other dance bands have been en
gaged to play for the ovcflow crowds
that are expected. Refreshments will
be served during the evening.
Ticket may be procured from any ,
Orange member or at the county
agent's office in the county court
house here.

Week-long negotiations failed to
bring an agreement between the
Apple O rowers' association and the
Fruit. Cannery and Agricultural
Workers' union on new wage and
hour schedules.
Association officials contended the
scales proposed by the union would
Increase apple and pear prices 36
cents a box. The union denied the
scale was excessive, asserting it was
on a parity with that already ac
cepted by other packing organizations.
