HOWELL WILL IE Korftannab Mae Becknell, serving a 30-day sentence In the county Jail for non-possession of an auto driver's license, informed Sheriff 8yd I. Brown this morning. "I will serve my sentence, and do as I please when I get out," the official reported. The sheriff had agreed to take Mrs. Becknell, at her request, before the driving examiners today so she could take the examination, and, If she passed It, obtain a new driver's license. Her applications to the sec retary of state's office have twice been rejected, because she failed to fill out the birth date space. "I am definitely through, de clared the sheriff, who has been act ing as a sort of an Intermediary be tween the prisoner and Justice of the Peace W. R. Coleman, committing magistrate. "What she does Is her business." Justice Coleman said, "It would be fine If Mrs. Becknell passed the driver's examination, but that doesn't entitle her to freedom. I will give full consideration to any plea she makes for release." - Mrs. Becknell was sentenced July 24, after she had maintained a defl- ' ant attitude at the hearing. PORTLAND. Ot An S UP1 (U. 8.
