Shakespearean Festival To Attract Many Residents Attracting much interest through out the valley this week la the third annual Shakespearean festival, which will open a week of performances tomorrow evening at the Elizabethan open-air theatre In Llthla park In Ashland. Me-d ford i tea, as well aa other valley residents, find the festival plays a pleasant diversion for summer eve nings and this year's production is expected to attract greater numbers than ever. Improvement in the theatre and wider background of ex perience on the part of actors and technical staff are expected to add polish to the already unusually smooth amateur performances. Many hostesses entertaining out-of-town guests will welcome the fes tival aa an opportunity to show vis itors a southern Oregon cultural achievement and other local resi dents will Join In groups to attend the plays. Many dinner parties are being planned to precede play at tendance during the week. Plays to be ehown ar: Taming of the Shrew, Monday and Saturday evenings; Romeo and Juliet, Tues day and Thursday evenings; -and Twelfth Night, Wednesday and Fri day. A number of Medford residents are among the amateur actors find ing the festival an absorbing and enjoyable summer occupation. Among those from this city on pro duction rosters are Doreen and Jeanne Leverette, Mrs. Almus Pruttt, Audrey Lofland, John Relsacher, Pat Carlon and Rychard Sleight.
