Glan ninl, head of the giant Trajuamerica corporation, and the management of the San Francisco stock exchange disturbed local financial circles to day. Cause of the dispute was not made known but Glannlnl allegedly threat ened to keep new stock of his com pany from being listed on the local board until a change of management was effected. The disagreement between the banker and Prank M. Shaughnessy, president of the exchange, was con sldered so serious that the governing board of the exchange discussed a special meeting, the purpose of which would be to attempt to patch up the break. Olanlnnl declined to disclose de tails of the dispute with Shaugh nessy but admitted be applied to New York and Los Angeles exchanges for listing the new stock of his com pany but made no application here. The Italian banker was asked to explain his stand In the matter, but answered: "I'm not talking for publication on this subject." Shaughnessy confirmed that forms necessary for the listing of the new Transamerlca stock were not fll;d. but said he did not know what Glan nlnl Intended to do. "I am not worrying about It," he said, "I'm tending to my Job." Transamerlca. which has Bank of America as a subsidiary, recently dis tributed one share of Bank America stock for each share of Transamerlca. and also reclassified Transamerlca stock on the basis of five new shares for each 10 old shares. These new-classifications and dis tributions were effective July 29. Livestock Portland PORTLAND, July 30 (AP) (U. S. Dept.. Agr.) (AP) climb ing steel favorites held the spotlight la today's stock market.' ' While volume was extremely light, gains of fractions to 2 points were well distributed the greater part or the session. There were a few wider swings. Profit selling In the final hour cut extreme advances in many Instances and there were a number of losers at the finish. - The steel rally followed Bethle hem's announcement after the close yesterday of the best earnings In seven years and a boosted dividend. ' Earnings of other companies, on the whole, were Interrupted as con structive, but there were several ex ceptions among the day's statements. Trading apathy was attributed by brokers, partly to the wage-hour legislation battle In congress and fur ther doubts of nearby adjournment. It was also thought tbe Par Eastern' disturbance was a factor, If only a minor one. A handful of utilities, farm Imple ments, oils, coppers and specialties were In fair demand. Transfers were around 650,000 shares. Today's closing prices for 33 se lected stocks follow; AI. Chem. 5c Dye Am. Can Am. fc Fgn. Power A. T. tSc T. Anaconda ... Atch. T. & 8. P. Bend ix Avta. Beth.
