the fire department was called out
at 6:48 last evening to extinguish a
rubbish blaze that got beyond con

State Forest Fires The state forest
tire patrol was called to put out a
small llghtnlng-caused fire on Ante
lope creek last evening about 7
o'clock. About 4 o'clock yesterday
afternoon the patrol put out a three
acre grass fire near Talent.

Baby Named Richard Joseph has
been chosen as the name for the son

Donald Cave, Jr. The baby was born

Saturday, July 24. Mother and child
were reported today to be progressing
splendidly. Joe Cave of the Medford
police department Is the child's
grandfsther.
Guests from Nebraska Mr. and
Mrs. L. P. 8mlth of 614 West 11th
street are entertaining relatives from
Plymouth, Neb., who arrived last
night by motorcar for a week's visit.
The guests are Mrs. Smith's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. George Nlspel; hor
brother, Edward Nlspel, and his wife
and her sister. Miss Ermine Nlspel.

Lewis, are visiting here at the home
of Mrs. Nlel Franklin and her moth

AT CITY AIRPORT
Installation of 42 new border light
outlining the main runway of Med
ford a municipal airport was com
pleted recently, city Building In
spector Frank, Rogers said today.
Twelve additional lights will be In
stalled when the entire runway Is
completed In the near future.
The lights are spaced 300 feet
apart and are 1000-lumen globes. re-

The new lights are set In modern
prismatic reflectors atop 36 - Inch
high metal cones which measure 30
inches In diameter at the base. The
cones are set on concrete slabs, and
are so constructed that If a plane
hits them they will disconnect them
selves, and roll free.

Summarizing this yesr's work. Miss
Carlton noted that it compares very
favorably with past years. She stated
that demand wa somewhat decreas
ed this year.

chamber of commerce appeal. 90S

sales In the shop totaled $33, which
was turned back Into the purchase
of additional material.
